D’Hondt is Belgian 1/8th scale Champion

More news from Belgium, this time its Serpent reporting that their team driver Robin D’Hondt has clinched the 2007 1/8th scale Belgian National Championship with a calculated drive to 2nd place in the final round at Roeselare over the weekend. The current Benelux Champion qualified 2nd for the event behind outgoing Champion Steven Cuypers making it an all Serpent front row and making the most of his TQ position Cuypers, the winner of Round 3, led the final well into the second half of the race before an engine flame out ended a great drive. This allowed Ilia van Gastel into the lead and D’Hondt, who had won round 1, 4 and 5 of the Championship, into 2nd spot which was enough for him to become National Champion.

Ron Maya wins Victorian State Title

Ron Maya wins Victorian State Title

Xray are reporting on their site from the Truggy and MT Victorian State title race that was held from the 13th to the 16th of September at Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. Qualifying saw Xray XT8 driver Ronald Maya take the TQ spot with three 1st place finishes in the rain affected qualifying sessions and after the semi finals it was again Maya who ended up in front to take pole position for the 45 minute final. The race starterd badly for Maya, losing his front body clips at the start, he wasnt able to replace them until his first pitstop and this lost him a lot of time to John Grupillo who had managed to get a lap up on the field early on. At the half way mark however Grupillo ran out of fuel to bring Maya back into contention and when his car flamed out again Ronald could take the lead and with it the win, Grupillo coming home in 2nd and John Bateman in 3rd.
