Kyosho to release RTR Lazer ZX-5 buggy

Kyosho Lazer ZX-5

More electric buggy news and again from Kyosho. The Japanese manufacturer has announced that they will release a RTR version of their popular ZX-5 buggy. The ZX-5 is a shaft driven 4wd buggy that has done very well on the International racing scene in its kit form and therefore as a ready to run should be a great platform for anyone getting started in the sport. As always, as we get more information we will let you know.

Academy SBV2 PRO up close

Academy SBV2 PRO

Back in the beginning of January, when it was released, we wrote about the new SBV2 PRO buggy from MRC Academy. What the PRO part of the name meant was that this kit is a fully optioned SBV2, which is no bad thing as the original car is a very good shaft driven 4wd buggy, and so with all the optionals as standard could only make a good car better. Our partners RC Forum have gotten up close with the PRO to reveal some of the details that may have been missed before now.

Nuernberg Toy fair – Buggy Truggy Muggy round up

Mugen MBXT-R

Ok with almost everything at this years fair photographed from several different angles by many intrepid reporters on the ground and all the first day buzz is gone, its time to settle down and take stock. We already covered the engines at the fair and now its time to cover the many gas powered off roaders at the show. This is just to give you ano verview of what was at the show and I wont mention the HPI Lightning Pro 2 Evo, Piktor Rush 2, Crono RS7, Blade BX-1, Xray XB8-EC or XT8 as I have already gone into detail about them previously. The truggy you see above is the MBX5T and was being shown on the Mugen stand.

Tamiya TRF415 MSXX at Nürnberg Toy fair

Tamiya TRF415 MSXX

Tamiyas rather neat looking follow up to the ultra successful TRF415 the MSXX, that we talked about some time back, was on display in Nürnberg this week and RC10.fi got their hands on it and took some pics. I always liked the blue look of this car and the performance is undisputed considering its pedigree but the absolute coolest thing about this car the air scoop that is mounted in front of the motor and takes air from under the chassis and sends it to your precious power plant. In these pictures the speedo and receiver are mounted to the top side of the scoop and therefore raise up at an angle above the chassis plate but you’ll understand what i mean when you see the photos.

Robitronic to release Scalpel sport version

Robitronic Scalpel sport version

At the show on the Robitronic stand was this Scalpel sports prototype that features an red anodised aluminium chassis plate, red anodised aluminium suspension arms and a fibre glass t-bar. All this of course makes for a rather ugly alternative to the beautiful carbon fibre version, albeit a cheaper alternative. One thing is for sure, if Robitronic had come out with this version of the car first i dont think the Scalpel would have been as well received as it has been.

Team Orion fuel systems

Team Orion fuel systems

Team Orion seem to have been thinking a lot about fuel lines and back pressure lines, what with the release of their constant pressure device (CPD) that we showed you yesterday and now this multiple line fuel tubing system. The system uses a t-shaped nipple to split the fuel from the tank and then a 2 ended fuel inlet nipple on the carburettor which together tries to ensure that the fuel makes it from the tank to the engine even when going through the fastest of bends. How legal this is i dont know, as the tech inspection at events usually measure the tank capacity along with the fuel line to the carburettor and with 2 lines it may pose a problem?

Nuernberg Toy fair – Engine round up

Picco IDM

With so many products being shown at the fair we have decided to do a few rounds up of certain types of products, this first one being for engines. We have already seen the Mario Rossi tuned GRP motors and the new Team Orion CRF range or motors so whats left, well quite a lot actually. The engine above is the Danielle Ielasi edition motor from Picco and we would expect that it features the same work as every other ‘edition’ engine on the market but in a Picco motor and its available in circuit and buggy versions.

UPDATE: Added 3 more engines to the list.
