The 2019 Protoform Nitro Grand Prix was held at the very popular Steel City RC Speedway recently. In the 200mm Nitro Sedan class it was Capricorn’s DJ Apolaro with TQs in round 4 and 5 that secured him the overall top qualifier position after a slow start on the opening day of qualifiers. In the last round he was also way ahead for another TQ run, however DJ did not finish the run. He would maintain the overall TQ winning the tie breaker with the fastest times. The Protoform Nitro Grand Prix was held at Steel City RC Speedway win Fontana, California over the weekend. The event attracted some of the country’s fastest nitro on-road racers as well as guests from Australia, Italy, Japan and Thailand and in the premier 1/8th IFMAR IC Track class it was Australia’s Jeff Hamon with the overall TQ, however brake issues in the 60-minute main final meant the Mugen driver wasn’t able to hold the top spot, having to let Infinity’s Lamberto Collari go.
