Björn Christiansen wins Club Racing Series Rd5

Round 5 of the Northern Germany based Club Racing Series was hosted by the MACH track in Hamburg last weekend. Held as part of the MACH’s open club series the CRS saw the running of the sole Plastic Cars class, a category targeting “tub” chassis touring cars such as the Yokomo SD Sports, the Team Associated TC4 Club Racer or Tamiya tub chassis cars. Hand-out ETS Muchmore motors, a mandatory 1:6.5 gearing and a single set of Volante 28R Hybrid tyres make for a level playing field that was lead by Yokomo’s Björn Christiansen. The avid stock racer dominated both the 8-minute qualifiers and triple 10-minute A-main finals at will, leaving behind veteran racer Sebastian Sürstedt whose 20-years old Team Associated TC3 Factory Team once again came out of retirement for an undefeated 2nd overall position. Modified specialist, MACH’s Christian Stolze (Yokomo) had to cope with the somewhat low speeds of the Plastic Cars in general and of his rental Yokomo SD Sports in particular but he ultimately snatched the final podium spot from MACH’s, Zeljko Garai (Yokomo) in 4th.

X-Grip Conveyor cooling fan mount

European X-Grip distributors Mikimodel have introduced the Conveyor cooling fan mount. The 3-D-printed part is made of carbon reinforced material and it weighs in at only 5g, hardly changing the overall weight balance of the chassis. A trick clip takes the fan’s JST connector for a more tidy look and the mount’s design will reduce the operation temperatures of the motor by about ten degrees. The mount is usable with most motor cooling fans.

RC Maker introduces new A800X carbon fibre optionals

Coming from RC Maker are three new carbon fibre optionals for the Awesomatix A800X touring car. First up are some crazy looking bulkhead flex dampeners. The parts allow for two in-between settings, complementing the optional no-brace and straight link settings. Made from super thin 3K carbon, they attach to the bulkheads directly and provide consistent dampening (restriction) of the flex at the front of the front bulkheads in every direction. There are two different stiffeners included, the larger sized one provides the most flex of the two, but still reduces the flex here by around 50 percent. The smaller one is stiffer, and reduces the flex by roughly 70 percent. Using the parts will make for improved overall consistency especially with the MMCX conversions.
