ZooRacing Zoodiac 190mm GT body shell

The Zoodiac GT body shell for 190mm touring cars is ZooRacing’s latest high performance 1/10th scale on-road body shell and the brand’s first go on the popular GT market. The goal was to create a stylish yet efficient body with advanced aerodynamics while still offering a somewhat scale look to ensure the body meets all current GT/USGT class rules. The lid features a low-slung silhouette to which sports sculptured fender sections that give plenty of room even for larger GT class tyres while the low-profile front hood section optimises the airflow around the fenders and towards the huge windscreen. The latter is designed to offer a slight cab forward design for best possible airflow towards the rear trunk section and rear wing. Going towards the rear of the body, the newly designed side pods not only add to the overall structure of the shell, they also add visual impact and help to balance the overall downforce by offering a slight upwards sweep. The somewhat simple rear trunk lid design helps with undisturbed airflow towards the rear wing, that was designed to meet all GT class rules. The wing is moulded with two cut lines, a standard 10mm section and a taller “outlaw” marking for increased downforce.

2019 Urban Touring Series Rd4 – Report

Round 4 of the 2019 Urban Touring Series was held this past weekend and the big story was Sean Lee’s domination of the event with his first ever win in the series, with the added bonus of a TQ. Prior to the event, the question everyone was asking was who would step up to the top step of the podium this time as the event would see several top racers skipping the round due to other commitments. The final entry count was still a healthy 19 racers, with several new faces and plenty of fast guys to make the race interesting. In qualifying, Sean Lee showed his intentions with TQ runs in both Q1 and Q2. In Q1, the early challenge from Esmail Apandi soon fizzled out as Esmail made a mistake. In Q2, PY Tang would give Sean a run for his money, but Sean held his nerve and took TQ by 1.3s margin. This would unlock Sean’s first ever overall TQ at a UTS event. Sean sat out Q3, and it opened the door for PY Tang to take TQ for the round and secure a P2 start in the mains. Esmail would qualify 3rd, with Koh Boon Yang 4th. Securing the other direct A-main spots were EC Wee and Hasron Robana.

Rebellion-RC release new mid-motor conversion teasers

Rebellion-RC have released more information on their forthcoming mid-motor conversion kits for cars such as the Xray T4, Yokomo BD9 and BD8 as well as the Team Associated TC7.2. According to Rebellion-RC the kits, project name “Holy Grail”, will do away with the shortcomings of current mid-motor conversions, such as wider overall electronics layouts – especially offset battery positions – or raised drivetrains compared to rear motor cars; all of which having negative effects on the overall performance and thus detracting the positive influences of the mid-motor design. First prototype tests have shown very promising results with Rebellion-RC’s Xray and Team Associated testbeds all being quicker than their standard counterparts. The conversion kits will retain the battery position, electronics layout/chassis width of the standard cars, they will include a patented design motor mount and are usable with up to 48T pinion gears and 114T main gears, making them usable for both Stock and Modified classes. The first kits for Xray, Yokomo and Team Associated cars will become available by the end of July with conversion kits for all of the other current electric touring cars coming quickly after.
