Kenny Kong wins at Dog Days of Summer race 2

The recent Dog Days of Summer round 2, hosted by The Track in Gaithersburg, Maryland, was run with a somewhat condensed format of only two qualifiers and a single bump-up A-main. With around 110 entries the traction had really come up between qualifying rounds and especially for the mains, a lot of people would start to have issues with traction rolling. From the tone Kenny Kong (Yokomo) was leading the 4WD Buggy race, however after a troubled opening laps it was Adam Vink (Xray) in 2nd. Adam got right behind Kenny and tried making a pass, but tapped a pipe and didn’t have enough time to catch back up to him. Ultimately it was Kenny in 1st with Adam 2nd and Tekno driver Paul Rush in 3rd. Frank Deiny and Omar Ladenburg would round out the top 5.

T-Works MBX8 CF shock towers & arm stiffeners

Coming from T-Works and made for the Mugen MBX8 buggy are new carbon fibre front and rear shock towers as well as carbon fibre A-arm stiffeners. Starting with the shock towers, the parts are machined from high-quality 4mm carbon fibre and are understood to utilise the standard kit geometry. The towers are light of weight and due to their different flex characteristics compared to the standard items, they can improve handling on slippery surfaces. The shock stays are available separately or as a complete set including the front and rear tower. Also new are carbon fibre A-arm inserts for the MBX8. The inserts will reduce the natural flex of the arms which can be beneficial in a range of track and temperature conditions. The inserts are machined from high-quality carbon fibre and are available as a complete set or separately for the front or rear.

Mark Sousa doubles at Quebec Indoor Nationals

The Quebec Indoor Nationals were held in Degelis, Quebec over the weekend. The track crew laid down a great track that was very technical and high speed and the slippery track surface made it even tougher. Xray’s Mark Sousa would TQ two of the three Nitro Buggy qualifiers for the overall TQ from Damian Lamy while in Nitro Truggy Mark would come out fastest in Q2 and Q3 for the overall as Q1 winner, Eric Deschenes, would take P2 after the qualifiers. Going into the finals and in Buggy Mark quickly realised that the track had a lot more grip compared to qualifying so he went into the main with his setup from qualifying but the buggy was a bit to soft, making it hard to drive so he made a few mistakes in the beginning and went back to last and after that he quickly started to make moves and get back into first. From there he was able to stretch out the lead more and more every lap and was able to take the win with Mugen’s Sam Langer in 2nd and Team Associated’s Damian Lamy in 3rd.

Pro-Line BFGoodrich T/A KM3 1.9” crawler tyre

Coming from Pro-Line is their all-new BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 1.9” G8 Rock Terrain truck tyre for scale trucks and rock crawlers. Pro-Line was given early access to the design of the just announced full-size BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tyre and recreated it for the Scale Crawling community in 1.9” size. Its aggressive tread lugs bite into loose or muddy surfaces and climb over slippery rocks which is further helped by the soft G8 rubber compound. Based on the BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX symmetric tread design, the Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 features deep, self-cleaning independent tread blocks and linear transverse flex zones to provide the grip that you need to get over the toughest obstacles. Pro-Line’s scaled-down variant fits most 1.9” crawler rims and it comes including suitable foam inserts.
