Tamiya 417X ‘Reedy Race’ chassis

To commemorate Viktor Wilck’s win at the Reedy Invitational touring car race in May, Tamiya have released a limited edition (200pcs) version of the TRF417X called the TRF417X Reedy Race. A small update from the original car it has been altered to help improve the low speed traction so it features an updated chassis and top deck. Also the shock towers have been made from 3.5mm thick carbon fibre and feature shock mounting holes that allow for a more precise setting change. The battery mount has been made of metal to increase weight low down and it will be supplied with front and rear gear diffs. Finally it comes with chrome and blue Tamiya decals.

Another Drake triple at JBRL Rd4

Round four of the JBRL Nitro Series made its way to Green Flag Raceway in Hesperia, CA last weekend. The conditions were hot and the elevation at the track was 3,200 feet above sea level which made engine tuning difficult. The Green Flag track crew put in a technical, but fun layout and did a great job maintaining the track. TLR/Novarossi/Pro-Line driver, Adam Drake headed to round four of the JBRL nitro series as the points leader in 1/8th nitro buggy, 1/8th nitro truck and electric buggy.

With these new tires, MCD have released the first 1:5 / 1:6 offroad tires specially designed for Astroturf. All astroturf isn’t the same so to always have the best traction they will be available in two different pattern, Astro Grip and Astro Max, and two different compounds, white and yellow. This way you always can reach a maximum on traction and it doesn’t matter if it is wet or dry, hot or cold. Also suitable for the most 1:5 / 1:6 2WD cars by using the original rims.

Wouter Wynen wins 2012 Belgian GP

The Belgian GP is held each year in early July at the beautiful outdoor astro track in Kampanhout, Belgium. Club manager Willy Heremans and his crew always put on a relaxed, fun, yet competitive race. The track is inside a park and the GP is presented the same weekend as a big festival, so there is plenty of food and Saturday night features lots of loud music well into the night. Privateer Wouter Wynen TQed the first three rounds of qualifying to take pole position for the triple-A mains. 2WD qualifying and mains were held on Saturday, July 7th, with 4WD the following day. Wynen took Q-1 by just 0.06 seconds over U.K.’s Grant Williams, and put in the only 12-lap run of Q-2. In Q-3 it was Kim Nielsen’s Durango chasing about a second behind Wouter’s X-6 Sq.

Toennessen wins Rd3 of Western German Champs

Mugen racer Daniel Toennessen was walking on water on his way to winning round three of the Western German Championship in the 1/10 scale nitro on-road class at Velp. Toennessen became the third winner in the third race with René Puepke winning round one at Dormagen and Michael Salven winning at Dueren. Bernd Rausch has been the main challenger at every race but is still waiting for his first victory. Nevertheless, the Kyosho hotshot is leading the championship ranking.

Lee Martin retains 2wd buggy European title

Lee Martin has retained his EFRA European 1/10th 2wd buggy title in Fehring in the south of Austria. Raced on what is normally a 1/8th scale track, and who will host next months 1/8th EFRA European Championships, Lee took his Speed Passion powered Tamiya chassis to the top qualifier spot ahead of recently crowned Swedish National Champion David Ronnefalk (Kyosho) with multiple European Champion Hupo Honigl (Durango) third. The first A-main was one by Lee ahead of fellow Brit Neil Cragg (Associated) with Hupo taking the 3rd spot. Leg two of the mains would see Lee make a mistake allowing the young Swede Ronnefalk to take a very close win in front of Worlds podium finisher Joern Neumann (Durango) in 2nd with Lee Martin recovering to 3rd setting up a title showdown for the 3rd and final A-main leg. Lee Martin would keep his calm in this decisive main and claim the win and overall title ahead of Ronnefalk in 2nd, who claimed the overall runner up spot and junior title, while Neil Cragg would finish 3rd claiming the final overall podium spot. Now the racers change their focus to the 4wd class with practice today followed by qualifying on Friday and Saturday morning with the finals being held on Saturday afternoon.

Used to secure wins at countless events, including the Silver State Nitro Challenge, Alabama Manufacturers Shootout and French Nationals, the Vertical Caster Blocks and Spindle assembly further optimizes the geometry for all RC8 vehicle platforms. Features include integrated steering stops, lowered roll center, allows lubrication of bearings while assembled and hat bushings and pins are now secured with set screws. They fit all early and later models of the RC8, RC8T, and SC8, nitro and electric.
