Xray Narrow Aluminium pinion gears

Xray Narrow Aluminium pinion gears

Xray have introduced their new line of narrow pinions, manufactured on a specially-modified precision gear machine which has ultra-precise tolerances and assures unparalleled concentricity. After machining, the edges of pinions are chamfered and then the pinions are run in and then specially treated to give them an even hardcoating so they stay absolutely true for a long time. The pinions run great with any spur gears, and work perfectly with Xray spur gears where even throttle on/off noise nearly disappears. These new 40T, 42T, 44T, 46T, 48T and 50T 64-pitch narrow high-performance pinion gears are manufactured from special lightweight aircraft duraluminium are 1.5mm thinner and 25% lighter than the regular-size pinion gears.

The new World spec car is essentially a LiPo friendly version of the original BD5 with a LiPo only chassis plate that helps optimise the weight balance of all the components. The motor mount has also received some attention and can now more easily cope with a wider range of pinions. Hot Bodies new Cyclone prototype

Hot Bodies new Cyclone prototype

As we reported yesterday, Japanese Hot Bodies factory driver Atsushi Hara won the TITC in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with his team mate Andy Moore, the double World Champion was using a prototype version of the new Cyclone touring car chassis and we have these exclusive photos of it. We weren’t given any specifics on the car itself other than it is a prototype and parts are subject to change, but both drivers were said to be very happy with the new car’s performance and with both making the A-main and Hara taking the win, it obviously works pretty well. What we can tell from the images is that it features a new LiPo only chassis plate and that there is a different belt orientation to help bring the motor closer to the car’s centre line. Other changes are the new longer top deck, which while not a single piece from front to back, it goes the entire length between the front and rear main axles, meeting just forward of the motor position and removing the aluminium chassis brace on the right side. There also appears to be new lower front wishbones along with aluminium steering blocks and with the steering servo orientated 90 degrees to standard, there is also a new servo saver system.

Novarossi 2660 & 2084 tune pipes

Novarossi 2660 & 2084 tune pipes

Novarossi have introduced 2 new tuned pipes for the 2010 season, the first of which is the EFRA 2660 which is for the 1:10 Touring category. This new pipe may look similar to the last one, but some internal changes means that on the track this new pipe performs better throughout the rev range. Also new for the 1:8 Off-road category is the EFRA 2084, where the company’s quest for better drivability and lower fuel consumption resulted in this new tuned pipe. Falling into the ‘Super Strong’ range, it is more resistant to the rough world of 1:8 scale Off-road competition. Expect to see both in mid March.

It replaces the old pin type clutch system that is found currently in all GT2 cars. A dramatic increase in bottom end acceleration is achieved by using a shoe type clutch system, this will greatly benefit all Inferno GT2 owners. The first gear combination features 15T/46T gears for strong acceleration. Second gear features a 19T/43T gear combination, which results in more top speed.
