Joern Neumann wins season opener in Germany

Joern Neumann wins season opener in Germany

The opening round of the German 1/8th buggy Nationals were held last weekend in Senden. The event attracted 132 drivers and saw 4 rounds of controlled practice on Friday and 2 more rounds of practice on Saturday morning. In these 2 practice rounds, the 3 fastest laptimes in a row count towards reseeding the groups for qualifying and after that there were 5 rounds of qualifying with the best 3 counting. TQ went to Daniel Reckward, with Jörn Neumann in 2nd place and Tim Bremicker in 3rd. At the start of the 40 minute main final it was Daniel and Jörn that were battling it out for the victory. Jörn made a little mistake that cost him around 3-4 seconds and so Daniel had a 5 seconds lead. With Jörn pushing very hard he closed the gap and at the 30 minutes mark was able to pass Daniel and he never looked back. Joern took the win from Daniel Reckward in 2nd and Tim Bremicker in 3rd. The 2nd round is in 2 weeks in Osterhofen.

Marc Rheinard takes European 4wd buggy title

Marc Rheinard takes European 4wd buggy title

Current Touring car World Champion Marc Rheinard has taken his first major off road title today after winning the 4wd class in Bilbao, Spain. Making the final in the 2wd class earlier in the week, the German faired better with the Tamiya TRF511X by taking the TQ spot after winning the final 3 qualifiers to start ahead of Neil Cragg in 2nd, with Tamiya team mate Viktor Wilck starting 3rd. In the finals Marc would easily win leg 1 ahead of Wilck, who would be later DQ’d for a technical infringement and so it would be Hupo Honigl taking 2nd and Neil Cragg 3rd. Leg 2 went the way of Associated racer Cragg, who finished 4 seconds clear of team mate Lee Martin in 2nd, with Marc Rheinard in 3rd, leaving both he and Cragg on equal points going into the final leg. The 3rd leg saw Rheinard win in the fastest time of the 3 legs, ahead of Wilck in 2nd and Cragg 3rd, giving Marc the overall title, ahead of Cragg in 2nd, with Hupo Honigl backing up his 2wd title earlier in the week with 3rd overall.

Brandon Melton wins Pro buggy class at the Carolina Nats

Brandon Melton wins Pro buggy class at the Carolina Nats

Over the weekend of August 7-9 JConcepts drivers Brandon Melton, Chris Pace, Barry Pettit, and Greg Smith attended the Carolina Nationals at Charlotte Motorsports Park, previously The Farm 2 and JConcepts sent us the following report. The track still remains as the same configuration from the Worlds track, however it’s ran in reverse with many changes to jumps and new additions. The new direction and facelift was a refreshing treat and many drivers commented on the track being very fun but challenging to drive. The stories of the week were the heat (near 100 degree temps all weekend) and a local charity on site called Hometown Heroes. A local Texas Roadhouse restaurant came on site and was grilling burgers, ribs, and steaks, and all sales from food went to the local charity that provides for local terminally ill kids.

Austrian driver Hupo Honigl has added another European title to his CV after winning the 2wd event today in Bilbao, Spain. Having qualified 2nd behind multiple British Champion Ellis Stafford, the pairing had an intense battle in the 2nd leg after a mistake in the leg 1 by the X-Factory driver gifted Honigl the round win. With the overall on the line, the race to the flag in leg 2 went down to the wire, but Hupo could hold on and take his 2nd leg win and take the European title, with Stafford eventually ending up in 2nd, while Lee Martin took the final podium spot after a win in the 3rd leg.
