Cragg & McGee win Stotfold Nationals

Cragg & McGee win Stotfold Nationals

oOple are reporting on last weekend’s 5th round of the BRCA 1/10th off road Nationals that took place at the Stotfold track and Saturday’s 2wd event saw Danny McGee take a convincing TQ after qualifying. Mistakes in the first leg allowed Lee Martin loose for a clear victory but Danny secured the win by taking a scrappy second leg and dominating the third leg, marching off from the pack for an easy victory. Following his win in Saturdays 2WD event, Danny McGee got off to a good start in the 4wd class on Sunday by taking the first round with his Losi XX4. It wasn’t to be however and like the previous meeting, despite taking a round of qualifying Danny didn’t manage to make the A final. Kevin Lee lined up on pole for the A final but after three scrappy legs which saw three different winners, it was Neil Cragg that took the win.

Expect a full report on oOple soon.

Mike Truhe dominates Pikes Peak Nitro Challenge

Mike Truhe dominates Pikes Peak Nitro Challenge

Last weekend saw the 2nd Annual Pikes Peak Nitro Challenge Pay race sponsored by Mugen Racing. The race was held at Colorado Fast Track in Colorado Springs Colorado. With a Pay out to the Top 5 in each class, the race had several well known drivers from around the country in attendance. Most notable was Mike Truhe off his TQ of the 2009 Roar Buggy Nationals 2 weeks ago. The race would prove to be very challenging for most drivers with the track layout designed to be technical, with a huge Quad into a difficult triple. With the elevation over 6500 ft from sea level, motor tuning would be very key to having success for the weekend over the 45 minute A-Mains. The big talk around the track was getting optimum power out of the motor with out lean bogging or running too hot.

Scott Brown Wins Short Course Nats

Hosted by R/C Madness in Enfield, CT, the Inaugural Short Course Nationals brought together racers from across the country to compete in the first all-Short-Course event. Normally piggybacked with another event, the promoters created an event that stood alone and catered just to the growing Short-Course racing crowd with seven separate classes. As major supporters of the Short Course class, Team Associated sent out factory representative Scott Brown as both an ambassador and racer to promote and assist fellow participants. Scott has been involved in R/C for years and is the owner of Tacoma R/C Raceway near Seattle, WA so his experience in the hobby runs deep. Utilizing his Team Associated SC10 and SC8, Scott brought home the victories in the top classes, taking the win in Electric 2WD Open with his Reedy/LRP powered SC10 and in 4WD Nitro with his Reedy 121 VR-powered SC8. Scott also participated in the fledgling class of 4WD E-Conversion Open and again piloted his SC8e to victory using Reedy power.
