Xray have a report on their site from the 1st round of the iRacingWerkz Nitro Challenge held recently at Singapore’s Turf City track. The race was open to both buggy and truggy and in the buggy class it was HongNor racer Wenyi that took TQ with the Xray pairing of Sam Cheng and Glenn Phuah in 2nd and 3rd, while in the truggy class it was Glenn Phuah that made TQ with the only 13 lap qualifier of the whole event. In the truggy main final, Glenn managed to pull out a comfortable lead until he clipped a metal spike that damaged the front arm, ending the race for him and handing the win to Kyosho driver Ben Seet. In the buggy final Glenn was once again quick, having a good battle with Wenyi and Sam Cheng but could eventually pull out a lead, taking the win despite a damaged rear wing, with Seet finishing in 2nd and another Xray driver JY Mok in 3rd.

Cavalieri sweeps the Dirt Nitro Challenge

Cavalieri sweeps the Dirt Nitro Challenge

Team Orion racer Ryan Cavalieri has dominated the 9th running of the Dirt Nitro Challenge in Arizona winning both the buggy and truggy classes, but in qualifying it was Team Losi racer Adam Drake, using the new GRP motor that TQ’d in both classes. In the truggy final it was Ryan Lutz that took the early lead and looked like he would take the win, but a rear differential problem saw him drop out and this leaving James on his roof which meant he had to settle for 3rd. The buggy class final saw and early lead for the Drake who was followed by O’Donnell racer Jared Tebo, with Mike Truhe and Ryan Cavalieri catching. Two thirds of the way into the race Truhe had managed to gain a lead of 6 seconds from Cavalieri who was closing and with 1 minute to go he made the pass and was able take the win, by just over 1 tenth of a second in front of Truhe with Adam Drake taking 3rd.

Jerome Sartel takes Montpellier GP

Jerome Sartel takes Montpellier GP

Xray have a report from newly signed team driver Jerome Sartel on last weekends Montpellier GP. Coming fresh from his win in both the buggy and truggy classes at the recent Euro Indoor race, the French racer was initially struggling, partly due to the cold temperatures and lack of practice. Having qualified 6th, and continuing to fine tune his car, he would start the main final from 6th after placing 4th in his semi final. A change of tires transformed the car and saw Sartel battling in 3rd behind Rodriguez and Ezazian in the early part of the race, taking the lead after 15 minutes only to have a fast charging Renaud Savoya move onto his tail. A battle ensued but when the Mugen racer had problems, Jerome saw himself with a lap lead ahead of 2nd and could cruise home for the win, in front of Jerome Ezazian and Nico Rodriguez.

Alexander Valente joins X Factory

Alexander Valente joins X Factory

2007 French buggy Champion Alexander Valente has joined the X Factory Team. Valente drove his own X -6 to win in the first three events of the 2007 French Championship and took second in the fourth event to lock up the title. “I’m looking forward to this season so much,” said Alex. “It’s hard for me to believe that now I’m part of the X Team”. Valente added,

I was hooked on The New Math when I first heard about the concept. If just makes so much sense, I had to get one. And what a dream to drive, right from the start. Brian Kinwald calls this car ‘cheating,’ and I knew why right from my first lap. Now I’m part of this exciting innovative Team. It’s amazing! The X – 5 is the perfect car for our French outdoor tracks. I haven’t driven 4WD for quite some time, and can’t wait to start driving it. That single-belt driveline is just ballistic, and the xx-4 suspension is still the best one ever built. With a year of driving the mid-motor X – 6, I know I’ll be right at home with the X – 5. Support from the other Team drivers has been fantastic. It’s so much fun being with a group of guys who are so smart and share my desire to win. So far it’s just been E-mails because of distance, but it’s a super Family.

Valente will run the full schedule of French National Championship races, as well as the Coupe De France and Petit R/C races in 2008.
