King & Lutz take 1-2 in RC Pro Series

King & Lutz take 1-2 in RC Pro Series

Kyosho America have been in touch to let us know that Cody King has won the popular RC Pro Series National Championship, followed in second place by Ryan Lutz, both running Sirio-powered Kyosho Inferno 777 WC Edition buggies. Even though he trailed in points coming into the Championship final, King led the most laps and won the final round, giving him enough points to capture the National Championship. Ryan Lutz, who TQ’ed both truck and buggy classes with wins in seven of the eight qualifying rounds, scored a third place finish in the buggy class. This gave Lutz enough points to secure the second position for Pro Series Championship, while Kyosho scored the top two spots in the championship with the Inferno 777 WC.

Bloomfield wins Panther Winter series Rd1

Bloomfield wins Panther Winter series Rd1

We received a report from the first round of this years Panther tyres and products supported Herts Nitro Winter series. With no practice in the morning and only 3 rounds of qualification with 2 counting, making no mistakes was very important. Darren Bloomfield took top honours with the quickest run of the day in round three with fellow Losi driver Mathew Perry in second and Karl Jackson for Kyosho in third. With the day light fading towards the end of the finals the racing looked incredibly fast. A bad start to the final from Darren put him to the back of the pack and this left Karl and David Crompton to battle for the win. At about the five minute mark Darren found himself back on equal terms with the top two fighting for the lead. Wheel to wheel racing with Karl down the main straight gave Darren the lead and he never looked back. Bruce Thompson took the chance in the ten minute final not to stop and this gave him the extra time he needed to take second spot in the final for Losi and Novarossi. The majority of drivers chose to use Komodo Dragon 2 tyres in soft compound but Darren preferred the additional steering gained from the Hedgehog.

Lee Martin wins Rd2 CML Winter Champs

Lee Martin wins Rd2 CML Nitro Winter Champs

CML are reporting on the 2nd round of the Nitro Winter Championships that were run in wet conditions over the weekend, proving the advantage of running on astroturf. In qualifying it was Team Associated’s new star Elliott Boots who drove his RB powered RC8 to pole postition with a time some 5 seconds quicker than the field with Hobao driver Dave Bailey took his RB powered Hyper 8.5 to 2nd with Simon Willetts in 3rd. In the main final Elliott got away from pole poistion well but it was clear that the set up change he made was not suited to the conditions and he was fighting to keep the car in check. From mid grid Lee Martin had cut through the field with his RC8 and was soon challenging Elliott. Lee’s set up was obviously better and soon he was past and building a big lead. Lee maintained a fantastic pace right to the flag and easily won in front of Simon Willetts in 2nd and a strong finishing Jon Howells with his Picco powered Hyper 8.5 in 3rd.

Gačar Zdenko wins Rd4 Slovenian TT Nats

Last weekend saw the 4th and final round of the Slovenian National Championships run in Jesenice, Hrušica, held for both 1/8th and 1/6th buggy. Weather on race day was wery cold with air temperature between 2 – 4 degrees and the track had a little surface water which turned into mud as the day went on, making it very difficult to drive the cars quickly. The 1/8th scale race saw a win for Laro racer Gačar Zdenk, 2 laps in front of Mugen driver Sašo Matijek in 2nd, while 3rd spot saw a close battle between Robert Škalec and Nejc Drole, with the Xray driver Škalec eventually taking the final podium position.
