Tyler Jones chooses Schumacher for 2wd

Schumacher Racing would like to welcome Tyler Jones to their team for 1/10th 2wd. Tyler’s main role will still be with Tekno for their 1/8th and 1/10th 4wd platforms, however he has chosen to run the Schumacher Laydown for his 2wd program. Tyler has recently been showing excellent pace at many events and is a great upcoming driver. Tyler had this to say, ‘I am so stoked to be joining Schumacher for my 2wd, I’ve tried many 2wd cars and felt the most comfortable and at home with the Laydown from the get go. It is great that we have managed to work a deal together to make this happen! My thanks go to Muz, Robin and the guys at Schumacher and I’m excited to be on track soon’. He will be competing mainly at local events, but when time allows he plans to do a few larger events later in the year.

Double for Baruffolo at Italian Pride Race

Last weekend was the Italian Pride Race at SRB track in Nembro, Italy. With rain affecting the track conditions ahead of the race, during the event itself the track was dry and so it was Kyosho racer Mattia Polito that took the top spot in nitro qualifying while in the the EP class it was Xray’s Marco Baruffolo with the top spot. In the nitro final things changed fast with Polito making a mistake and then 3 turns later Baruffolo overtook Elliott Boots to the take over the lead from where he would control the race until the end. Polito would regain 2nd spot with Boots completing the podium in 3rd. The E-buggy was more of the same for Baruffolo as he won all 3 mains to take the win ahead of Gianluca Zecchini in 2nd and Nicolo Veronesi in 3rd.

Ryan Maifield triple at 22nd Dirt Nitro Challenge

Ryan Maifield has completed the triple Crown at this year’s Dirt Nitro Challenge, the Mugen/JConcepts driver taking a clean sweep of all the Pro classes. Held at Thunder Alley in California, the 22nd running of the World Famous event, saw little to no foreign entries for the first time in years as Covid prevented teams traveling from abroad. In the Pro Buggy class it was TLR/JConcepts driver Dakotah Phend that would take the pole position ahead of HB Racing’s Cole Ogden. In the final, having starting from 4th, Maifield would use his vast experience as a previous multiple winner of this event, to come through and win ahead of Ogden in 2nd with Mugen driver Tanner Denney completing the podium in 3rd. Pro E Buggy again saw Phend on the pole position, but again was unable to convert his front starting spot into the win as Maifield took the overall win ahead of his JConcepts’ team mate Phend in 2nd, with the Team Associated of Spencer Rivkin bringing it home in 3rd. In the Pro Truggy it was more of the same as Phend would again capture the overall TQ but be passed by Maifield in the 45 minute final for the win, Tekno RC’s Joe Bornhorst would work his way up from the 11th place starting position to capture the final podium spot.
