Juan Carlos Canas sweeps 2020 Montpellier GP

The 2020 Montpellier GP was held in Montpellier, France this past weekend, attracting Europe’s fastest nitro off-road drivers including some oversea guests. SWorkz’s Juan Carlos Canas, his SWorkz teammate, Elliott Boots and Kyosho’s Reno Savoya would battle it out for the overall TQ and ultimately it was Juan Carlos with the overall TQ from Elliott and Reno. The 45-minute A-main event then again saw Juan Carlos leading the way as HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk came in 2nd, some 30 seconds behind as Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro completed the top 3 results, another five seconds behind. Elliott Boots came in 4th, already a lap down as Reno finished off the top 5 results, some ten seconds behind Elliott.

Essex Carpet Clash Rd5 – Report

Round 5 of the popular Essex Carpet Clash took place last weekend, with a track layout with a couple of jump sections that many found difficult to master. In 2WD Buggy Ellis Stafford confirmed his pole position for the finals, by taking rounds 1, 2 and 3 of qualifying. Kyle Moon lined up 2nd after being at the top of the score sheets consistently in qualifying. Stephen Brown also up at the sharp end of qualifying managed to line-up 3rd just ahead of Christopher Delves. In 4WD, it was a three-way battle for pole position. With Mark Lewis topping the score sheets in round one. Stephen Brown then took the second round but it was John painter who has been fast all season, managing to take the last two rounds of qualifying and giving him pole position for the final. Brown would line-up 2nd on the grid with Lewis in 3rd only separated by half a second on the count back scoring system. Jamie pickles would line-up 4th.

Team Associated sign Max Mört

Team Associated have announced the multi-year signing of up-and-coming Finnish 1/8th off-road racer, Max Mört. Max has been one of the fast-rising European racers and is looking to continue his upward trajectory. The former long-time JQRacing factory pilot will be racing the full line of Team Associated vehicles, but will concentrate on 1/8th scale with the RC8B3.1 during the summer months and keep his driving skills sharp during the winter with his B6.2. When asked about joining the reigning IFMAR World Champion team, Max had this to say:

Team Associated is one of the most successful brands in all of RC, so it goes without saying that having the opportunity to join was a great thing for me. I also think the guidance when joining Team Associated will push me forward in my personal career. Given the high level of International teammates, I will have a great group of people to help and push me to be my best.

Creation Model/Infinity sign Riccardo Berton

Creation Model have announced the signing of 2019 EFRA 1/8th Buggy European Champion, Riccardo Berton to the Infinity factory team. The former Kyosho factory pilot brings with him a vast amount of experience and knowledge and thus he will be a valuable addition to the company that is currently developing their forthcoming new 1/8th off-road platform. This is what Riccardo has to say about the deal:

Has been a long day..as most of you already know is starting a new chapter for my R/C career.. I signed for Infinity Team that offered me the chance to help them to develop a new buggy platform.. Alex Zanchettin returns to Team Losi Racing

Team Losi Racing have announced the signing of Italian 1/8th off-road front runner, Alex Zanchettin to the TLR Europe team for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The former Italian National Champion, multi-time EFRA Euros and IFMAR Worlds finalist will campaign TLR’s 8ightX platform at all major European events starting with this weekend’s Montpellier GP in France and he has the following to say about the deal:

It is a great feeling to be back with TLR, so many good memories and great achievement are linked to TLR during my racing career and I will do my best to add more of them in the upcoming seasons.

Lee Martin and Creation Model/Infinity part ways

Lee Martin has taken to social media the split between him and chassis sponsors Creation Model/Infinity. The former EFRA European and EOS Champion lost his sponsorship already last December and only made it official now and in the wake of next weekend’s Montpellier GP. Lee has yet to announce a new partnership but it is awaited to happen very soon. In the meantime Lee has the following to say:

The first 1/8th scale race of the year is this weekend at the Montpellier GP and it’s time that I mention that I am no longer with Infinity / Creation Model team. In the same fashion as a couple of my friends, I was too let go on the 18th December. Since then It’s been a difficult time for myself and my family as the news was unexpected. But with one door closing, another one opens and it’s a massive door! It’s an opportunity that I have been wishing to happen for years and I am super excited to get going! That’s all I will say for now, more details will follow very shortly.

Bartek Zambrzycki doubles at XRS Poland Rd3

Round 3 of the Xray Racing Series Poland was held at the Atlas Arena in Lodz last weekend, attracting more than 230 entries for the multiple electric on-road and off-road classes. The Buggy Modified classes saw an unstoppable Bartek Zambrzycki (Yokomo) who again took the TQ and win in both the 2WD and 4WD categories. The Xray duo of Bartosz Zalewski and Wojciech Rzepecki would complete the top 3 result in 2WD.

Rockstar Winter Off-road Series champions crowned

The final round of the 11th Annual Rockstar Winter Off-road Series was held at PDX Underground in Portland, Oregon last weekend. When the dust had settled it was Andy DiBrino with the overall win in the premier 2WD Mod Buggy class from Joe Pillars on the runner-up spot. Ryan Reavis would complete the overall top 3 result.
