Westrup TQs & wins at SDRC Supercross Series Rd2

Round 2 of the SDRC Supercross Series was held this past weekend, attracting over 70 entries. TLR driver, Eli Westrup took the overall TQ and also the win in the 2WD Mod Buggy class from the Team Associated duo of Kevin King in 2nd and Zack Miller in 3rd. Chris Raceles and Tito Gonzalez came in 4th and 5th respectively.

Berg doubles at TMK Raceway Open Club Champs

The TMK Raceway of Tomelilla, Sweden held their Open Club Championship this past weekend in 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes. The control tyre was a 45 shore foam for the front and a 35 foam for the rear, a setup that gained some popularity lately as it makes for fun and competitive racing on EOS carpet that already took some beating. The qualifying in both classes was lead by HB Racing’s Hampus Berg and the young man also lead the opening 2WD A-main until he hit a curb, 2-wheeled and flipped his buggy, putting him dead last. Ultimately he was able to recover to 2nd again following one of his best drives ever witnessed. A2 and A3 then were business as usual as Hampus lead the way to take the win in 2WD from Victor Gunnarsson (HB Racing) in 2nd and Oscar Berg (HB Racing), Hampus’ little brother, in 3rd. Over in 4WD Hampus took wins in A1 and A2 for an early overall from Joel Rosengren (Team Associated) in 2nd and Peter Blomgren (Xray) in 3rd.

Cole Tollard doubles at 2020 Motorama

The 2020 Motorama event took place in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this past weekend, attracting some of the fastest 1/8th off-road and dirt oval racers of the region. On the 1/8th dirt track it was Cole Tollard with the overall TQs in Expert Buggy and Expert and Cole would also bring home the overall victories in both categories, with 1-2-1 finishes in the triple 5-minute Expert Buggy A-mains while he wrapped up the Expert Truggy win already after the second A-main, allowing him to sit out A3. In Expert Buggy Ethan MacKanick And Paul Cicarello would round out the top 3 result while in Expert Truggy it was Adam Johnson and Anthony Mazzara who would round out the top 3.

Lefebvre & Hooks win at Thornhill Championship Series

The second round of the 2020 Thornhill Championship Series was held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, Texas this past weekend, attracting nearly 130 entries. In the Expert Nitro Buggy class it was Xray’s Ethan Lefebvre with the overall TQ and he also came out on top in the 25-minute A-main event, leaving behind 5th place qualifier, Tekno RC’s Tyler Hooks in 2nd some 16 seconds back, while Quincy Hughes (HB Racing) came in 3rd, already a lap down as Sean Gallagher (HB Racing) and Spencer Harrison (Xray) completed the top 5 results.

Alex Bernadzik wins at King Of The Valley 2020

The Maitland Off-Road Radio Controlled Car Club of Maitland, New South Wales, Australia hosted the King Of The Valley 2020 this past weekend in Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and 1/8th E-Buggy classes. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Kyle McBride with a clean sweep in the qualifiers for the overall TQ from Alex Bernadzik in 2nd. The 40-minute A-main saw Kyle and Alex battle it out in the opening stages with the two swapping the lead several times until Kyle suffered a DNF at about half-way point that allowed Alex (Team Associated) to take the lead and ultimately also the race win with a 4-lap margin from Jarred King (Xray) in 2nd while Ari Bakla (Xray) came in 3rd, another lap down.

2020 Keilor Invitational – Report

The Keilor Electric Off-Road Club of Melbourne, Australia hosted the 2020 Keilor Invitational last weekend. Australia’s version of the Reedy Race, this event is held on an outdoors dirt track in the Australian summer with the Invite classes running 5 heats of 2WD and 5 heats of 4WD in addition to open classes for both modified and stock, with the winner of these getting a direct invite to the 2021 event. For the 2020 event just under 130 entries were received from all around Australia, with the big talking point being the new track surface which had been treated with Canola oil dramatically reducing dust and tyre wear and proving a big hit with all racers. The layout had been changed since the 2019 Nationals held at the same track with a combination of sweeping and technical sections with large elevations and jumps challenging all levels.

JConcepts Spring Dirt Oval Nationals – Announcement

JConcepts Events present the Spring Dirt Oval Nationals that will be held at the iconic HobbyTown facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The centrally located venue invites Dirt Oval racers of all skill level to race at the Plex on the weekend of the 5th of April. The indoor facility, managed by Alex Sturgeon, has a wealth of RC knowledge to go along with passion and always provides an experience like no other. Racers will tune to the clay based surface and utilize a controlled tire to simplify the event experience. HobbyTown’s track build will focus around their current Dirt Oval track, however, updates and size changes will accommodate faster speeds, better driver visibility, and include an overall racers feel to the dedicated event. Stringer & Bernadzik win at King of the Hills

Pine Hills Dirt Racing of Bunya, Queensland, Australia recently held the Inaugural King Of The Hills event, attracting some of the area’s fastest nitro and electric off-road racers. The event was held in a unique format with multiple rounds of 10-minute heads-up racing and when the dust had settled it was Serpent’s Aaron Stringer with the win in E-Buggy from Mugen’s Jackson Beale in 2nd and Kyosho racer, Ric Williams in 3rd. Over in Nitro Buggy it was Team Associated’s Alex Bernadzik with the win from Aaron Stringer in 2nd and Craig Laughton in 3rd.
