Jason Nugroho wins at West Java Open Race Rd1

The West Java Open Race round 1 was held at the Maxspin Offroad Raceway this past weekend. The event was held in 1/8th Nitro Buggy and 1/10th Electric Buggy classes and in Nitro Buggy it was HB Racing’s Jason Nugroho with the overall win, a lap in front of Kyosho’s Ray Timothy. HB Racing driver, Reza R. would complete the podium some nine seconds behind Ray as Ibe and Yoko completed the top 5 result.

Kaiho & Akimoto win at Yatabe Arena Champs

The iconic Yatabe Arena in Tsukuba, Japan held a round of their Off-road Championship yesterday, attracting some of the area’s fastest electric off-road racers. In 2WD Modified it was Kyosho’s Kohta Akimoto with the overall TQ some 0.3 seconds in front of Yokomo’s Nana Kaiho. The single 5-minute A-main event then saw the top 2 swapping places, meaning Nana would walk away with the win a lap in front of Kohta as Yokomo’s Hiroshi Ohtsu came in 3rd to round out the podium. Over in 4WD Mod Buggy it was again Kohta with the overall TQ, however this time he would bring home the win some 2.3 seconds in front of Nana Kaiho as Hiroshi Ohtsu once again completed the top 3.

Jose Miguel Sanchez wins Andalusian Champs Rd1

The opening round of the Andalusian Nitro Buggy Championship was held at the RC San José de la Rinconada club this past weekend, attracting 52 entries. The qualifiers saw Agustin Illanes taking the overall TQ from Jose Miguel Sanchez in 2nd and Tomy Robles in 3rd. The 45-minute A-main then saw Jose Miguel (Mugen) leading from tone to tone, leaving behind HB Racing pilot, Albert Pelaez in 2nd, some two laps behind as Mugen’s Zacarias Villalba came in 3rd, another lap down.

Rose & Schreven win at DieHard RC Winter Series Rd8

Round 8 of the DieHard RC Winter Off-Road Carpet Series was held at DieHard RC in Snohomish, Washington, attracting 180 entries. In the 2WD Mod Buggy class it was Weylin Rose, coming from the 2 spot on the grid, with the win in the single 6-minute A-main even, leaving behind Tyler Wilbur in 2nd, only 0.4 seconds behind. 9th place qualifier, Jonathan Cantrell came in 3rd to round out the all-Team-Associated top 3 results.

Jade Lim wins at Lepaq Race

The 2020 Lepaq Race was held at the Putrajaya RC track in Putrajaya, Malaysia this past weekend, attracting some 70 drivers for the nitro and electric 1/8th scale classes. In Nitro Buggy it was Jade Lim with the overall TQ and he would also come out on top in the 40-minute A-main event from Ong Chee Yong in 2nd, a lap down. In 3rd it was Alfie Othman another lap down as George Coleman and Ramesh completed the top 5 results.

Juan Carlos Canas sweeps 2020 Montpellier GP

The 2020 Montpellier GP was held in Montpellier, France this past weekend, attracting Europe’s fastest nitro off-road drivers including some oversea guests. SWorkz’s Juan Carlos Canas, his SWorkz teammate, Elliott Boots and Kyosho’s Reno Savoya would battle it out for the overall TQ and ultimately it was Juan Carlos with the overall TQ from Elliott and Reno. The 45-minute A-main event then again saw Juan Carlos leading the way as HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk came in 2nd, some 30 seconds behind as Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro completed the top 3 results, another five seconds behind. Elliott Boots came in 4th, already a lap down as Reno finished off the top 5 results, some ten seconds behind Elliott.

Essex Carpet Clash Rd5 – Report

Round 5 of the popular Essex Carpet Clash took place last weekend, with a track layout with a couple of jump sections that many found difficult to master. In 2WD Buggy Ellis Stafford confirmed his pole position for the finals, by taking rounds 1, 2 and 3 of qualifying. Kyle Moon lined up 2nd after being at the top of the score sheets consistently in qualifying. Stephen Brown also up at the sharp end of qualifying managed to line-up 3rd just ahead of Christopher Delves. In 4WD, it was a three-way battle for pole position. With Mark Lewis topping the score sheets in round one. Stephen Brown then took the second round but it was John painter who has been fast all season, managing to take the last two rounds of qualifying and giving him pole position for the final. Brown would line-up 2nd on the grid with Lewis in 3rd only separated by half a second on the count back scoring system. Jamie pickles would line-up 4th.

Team Associated sign Max Mört

Team Associated have announced the multi-year signing of up-and-coming Finnish 1/8th off-road racer, Max Mört. Max has been one of the fast-rising European racers and is looking to continue his upward trajectory. The former long-time JQRacing factory pilot will be racing the full line of Team Associated vehicles, but will concentrate on 1/8th scale with the RC8B3.1 during the summer months and keep his driving skills sharp during the winter with his B6.2. When asked about joining the reigning IFMAR World Champion team, Max had this to say:

Team Associated is one of the most successful brands in all of RC, so it goes without saying that having the opportunity to join was a great thing for me. I also think the guidance when joining Team Associated will push me forward in my personal career. Given the high level of International teammates, I will have a great group of people to help and push me to be my best.
