Joe Pillars wins at Legends Of The Fall Series Rd2

The second round of the Legends Of The Fall Series, held at PDX Underground in Portland, Oregon, was held this past Saturday, attracting nearly 60 entries. In the 2WD Mod Buggy class it was Joe Pillars with the overall TQ and also the win in the 5-minute A-main, a lap in front of Kevin Focht. Brian Stromberg came in 3rd just 0.2s behind Kevin.

Renaud Savoya wins challenging French Buggy Nats Rd4

Round 4 of the French Nitro Buggy Nationals was held this past weekend at the CMLP track in Le Pin. Vincent Meertens took the overall TQ from Renaud Savoya, however in the 45-minute main final, that was held under rainy weather conditions, it was TLR’s Renaud Savoya who would bring home the win in front of TLR teammate, Jordan Lot as Kyosho’s Rayan Medjoubi came in 3rd to round out the podium.

Masami Hirosaka leaves Yokomo after 30 years

In what sounds a bit of a shock announcement, record IFMAR World Champion, multi-time Japanese National Champion and all-time RC icon, Masami Hirosaka has announced his departure from long-time sponsors Yokomo. Being with the Japanese company for 30 years now, Masami has taken to social media that he will leave Yokomo effectively today, September 30th, following the retirement of company founder Tom Yokobori. Masami and mechanic Masaaki have won countless national and international titles campaigning Yokomo cars, with Masami being the company’s main brand representative after his official retirement from racing, a couple of years ago. For now Masami leaves open what comes next for him.

TLR Championship Series – Announcement

The TLR Championship Series is a new US based race event series that includes four seasonal events and it will kick off from the 11th to 13th of October at RC Excitement in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Races will also be held at RC Fun Park in Granger Indiana, followed by Tacoma RC, and Beach RC. The format for this event is less about making a crazy race, but is based on having fun at an RC event, and helping new people get more involved in the hobby. It will still be a competitive environment, but there is a 250 entry limit to allow time for educational seminars, track walks, and even some fun races. Dakotah Phend will join the opening race, making the US debut with the TLR 22X-4, along with Frank Root. Gerardo Gonzalez from Pro-Line also being on site to help in promoting the hobby and more details can be found here and sign-up is already available here.

Reavis, Nguyen & McCall win inaugural PDX Triple Invite

Last weekend the inaugural PDX Triple Invite was held at PDX RC Underground in Portland, Oregon. The invitational had the Northwest’s best and fasted drivers and had over 85 entries. The format was a modified Reedy style with four rounds for each class using race points with one drop. Tie breakers were total laps and time of the three rounds used. The layout was wide with a couple of large features and good flow. Modified invite was won by Team Associated’s Ryan Reavis easily taking the overall with four wins. 2nd was a 4-way tie with privateer Jeff Phelps running a TLR taking 2nd, and team Xray driver Travis Harker in the 3 spot.

2020 Silver State Indoor Worlds – Announcement

The team at The Dirt Racing has announced the 2020 Silver State Indoor World Championship will take place from May 14th to 17th at the South Point Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue will be hosting the event for the third year and the organisers have some awesome plans to make it a great event. The schedule will be the same as the first year with Thursday practice, Friday and Saturday qualifying with some lower mains on Saturday night and remaining mains on Sunday. The arena is packed for the season and the only move in and set up dates available require the The Dirt team to follow this format. Euan McLeod crowned double Scottish Junior Champion

Following a very successful season, Euan McLeod was recently crowned Scottish Junior Champion in both 2WD and 4WD Buggy. The Schumacher driver snatched the titles while his brother Fraser backed a great season for the family, coming in 4th in both cases.

MOD/TLR 5th scale Championship – Report

The 2019 MOD/TLR 5th scale Championship series recently concluded after visiting a total of six separate tracks across the West Coast. Hosting tracks were Socal Nitro Raceway, Fear Farm, Delta RC, Good Ol Boys, CVR 2.0, and Wild West Raceway with the series not only spreading the awareness of 5th scale racing but also drawing in racers from all the regions to be able to experience different conditions, different layouts, and different challenges. In its first year the championship brought in a lot of new racers as well as helped improve each region’s knowledge of 5th scale in order to help cultivate club racing at a local level and help promote the hobby for the better. In 4WD Pro Buggy it was David John Orner, running a Matt Olson loaner car, with the overall championship in his maiden large scale season. Chris Higa and ADI’s own Josh Alton came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
