Czech 1/8th Buggy Nationals Rd5 & Rd6 – Report

The final two rounds of the Czech 1/8th Buggy Nationals took place at the Horni Jeleni track last weekend. At round 5 it was Max Gotzl with the overall TQ in the Nitro Buggy class, however after the semifinals it was Martin Bayer with the pole position for the 45-minute A-main event with Max coming in 2nd and Jiri Mara starting from the 3 spot. Soon after the start Martin had a bobble that allowed Max to take the lead but Bayer soon recovered and Max tried to fight back after the final stop for fuel but Martin had the faster pace and so he took the win from Max in 2nd and Jiri in 3rd.

Manuel Iniesta wins Levante regional champs

The Levante regional championship concluded last weekend and it was Mugen’s Manuel Iniesta who took the win and the overall title. The RC Roldan track played host to the race with the Kyosho duo of Oscar and Bryan Baldo competing the top 3 results behind winner Manuel.

Jarno Pijpers doubles at NRC Cup

The Mach-One astro turf track in Helmond, The Netherlands played host to a round of the NRW Cup this past weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class Carsten Keller took the overall TQ while in the Electric Buggy class it was Jarno Pijpers who was in 1st place after the qualifiers. Following the semifinal it was Jarno with the pole position for the Nitro A-main and right from the start he was able to build a gap on Carsten who had bad luck in his semifinal. Ultimately Jarno Pijpers (SWorkz) was able to bring home the win from Carsten Keller (Mugen) in 2nd and Collin Meijer (Serpent) in 3rd. The Electric class had Jarno Pijpers (SWorkz) taking another pole position with Sander van Genechten (Xray) on the 2 spot on the grid. After the start Jarno and Sander would pull away from the rest off the field. Sander would follow Jarno for a few minutes, but Sander made a mistake and Jarno would open a gap to take the win from Sander in 2nd and Tim Donk (Team C) on the 3 spot.

Robert Gustafsson sweeps 40+ Buggy Euros

The EFRA 40+ 1/8th Buggy European Championships were held in Fehring, Austria this past weekend. Sweden’s Robert Gustafsson took the overall TQ from UK’s Simon Reeves and France’s Stephane Deroch and Robert, racing an Agama prototype, would also score a near flag-to-flag win in the 45-minute A-main final to bring home the win from HB Racing’s Simon Reeves, who snatched the vice-championship some 32 seconds down on Robert. A lap behind the top 2 drivers it was Switzerland’s Marc Heim (Xray) with the 3rd place to round out the podium.

Essex Carpet Clash Series – Announcement

The inaugural season of the Essex Carpet Clash off-road series will take off on the 23rd of December in Hornchurch, Essex. Classes run will be 2WD Buggy and 4WD Buggy according to BRCA general rules and with Schumacher Cactus control tyres. The 30x16m track will be laid out using EOS carpet and four of the six rounds will count towards the overall championship. Full information can be found on the series’ official website here.

Ryan Cavalieri doubles at Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout

The annual Hot Rod Shootout is always a racer’s favorite and attracts some of the fastest pros in the nation for one final mega outdoor showdown in Santa Clarita, California, home of the world famous Hot Rod Hobbies and the 21st running of the Hot Rod Shootout. In 2WD Modified and for those who thought Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri was slowing down because fatherhood stepping in was proven wrong over the course of the weekend as Cavalieri went head to head with current WC and took a resilient bounce back wing after losing A1. It would be easy to give in and just settle for 2nd, but Cavalieri’s inner fire wouldn’t allow that to happen. After stepping up the pace and winning A2, Cav Mode was in full sync and carried the momentum in A3 to seal up the overall in the 2WD Modified class. Ryan Maifield (Yokomo) had to settle for 2nd as Team Associated’s Jake Mayo rounded out the podium result.

Davide Ongaro sweeps Buggy Summer Cup

The inaugural Buggy Summer Cup was held at the Italian Gli Archi track this past weekend with some of Europe’s fastest 1/8th off-road drivers in attendance. In the Nitro Buggy Invitational class it was HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk with the overall TQ while the E-Buggy class was lead by Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro. After the Nitro Buggy main final however it was Davide Ongaro who walked away with another high-class win this season as Mugen’s Robert Batlle and David Ronnefalk came in 2nd and 3rd overall.

Schumacher sign Ellis Stafford

Schumacher Racing have welcomed UK legend, Ellis Stafford to their team. Ellis’ past achievements are second to none including; multiple BRCA national Champion, off-road, on-road and trucks, multiple European Champion and most BRCA top 10 results on record. Ellis’ depth of knowledge will be a great asset for Schumacher as they head into another busy racing season. Ellis has the following to say about the deal:

Joining Schumacher Racing again is a surreal experience with them being my first manufacturer sponsor when I started out at top flight racing back when Cecil Schumacher ran the team. Now a generation on with Robin at the helm I’m back and looking forward to working not only with the factory but also the rest of the team to try and bring some good results for Schumacher and myself.
