Cole Ogden and Mugen part ways

The Silly Season is starting to heat up and the next superstar driver to swap teams is Cole Ogden, who announced his departure from long-time sponsors Mugen on social media. Winner of countless high-class events, Cole has yet to announce his new home and in the meantime he had the following to say:

As of today, all great things must come to an end. With having such great success with Mugen cars over the past couple of years, I can’t say anything but great things about their cars, and it was awesome to be apart of their racing program. Although the last 2 years have flown by like it’s nothing, I have mutually parted ways with Mugen Seki Racing.

With that being said, I would like to thank everyone at Mugen for their support over the last 2 years. I’ve definitely had great times racing alongside some of the industries absolute best guys like Adam Drake, Ryan Maifield and Robert Battle! Such a humbling experience that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I would like to thank Kris Moore, Adam Drake and Tim Long for having me along for the ride over these last couple years! I wish them the best for the future and on to the next chapter.

With its grippy clay/dirt mixed surface, Beach RC has slowly become a racer’s favorite due to the entertaining high grip surface and unique square shape layout making for fun and interesting racing. Attracting nearly 300 entries this year, the 2017 MoD has grown each and every year as this year drew in some of the industry’s best talents to battle in three different Modified classes in order to crown one overall multi-class champion. The combined classes include the 2WD Modified class, 4WD Modified, and one of the Mod Truck classes like Mod Stadium or Mod Short Course. Each racer that entered the three classes could qualify for the MoD title, but only one would emerge MoD Champion with the best score in all three classes.

Elliott Boots wins at Oktoberfest Race

The Romacross track in Rome, Italy played host to the Oktoberfest Race this past weekend. After the semifinals it was still Robert on the top spot while Elliott had grooved in to take the P2 spot on the main final grid. At the start of the 30-minutes main final Elliott would follow Robert for a few laps, gaining in some places and losing in others. Finally Boots would close right up on Batlle and when the latter made a mistake, Elliott would take the lead and never look back. In the end Elliott was able to take the win by two laps and both Robert and Marco would suffer problems towards the end of the race, making way for Marco Ravaglia in 2nd and Dario Gabrielli 3rd.

Tanner Stees wins at Arizona State Championships

The Arizona State Championships were held recently at Hobby Action raceway. The layout for the track was welcomed by many and a huge triple and a quad section was something different for an indoor track and a nice change of pace for indoors. The single 8-minute 4WD main on Sunday saw Xray’s Tanner Stees walking away with the win. Coming from the 2 spot on the grid, Tanner would gain the lead after a couple of laps and he was able to break away from the 2nd placed driver until Tanner had a problem with lap traffic and had to be marshalled were he fell back down to 2nd. The battle continued on once again until the leader made a mistake and Stees was able to take the lead and get a gap going until the end of the race, where he finished 1st from Team Associated’s Ashe Deering 2nd and Tekno’s Billy Fischer 3rd.
