Round 4 of the Victorian Championship Driver Series was held in Barmah on a very technical and challenging track. Cameron Zammit managed to TQ both the Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy classes and he also snatched the wins in both 30-minute finals. As a result Camerin also took out the Victorian Championship driver series in both classes.

Round 5 of the 2017 Belgian SCR Cup was traditionally held on the iconic MBV Kampenhout track. The flawless organisation allowed to run four instead of the usual three qualifiers, giving the drivers more opportunities to improve their lap times, on the very technical and demanding track that requires a good rhythm. The qualifiers started on a wet track but it dried up quickly with the nice and sunny weather making for good but not too high grip levels all day long.

Southside RC in Lake City, Florida recently held their August club race and in the Open Nitro Buggy class it was Jason Frank (Xray) with the overall TQ courtesy of winning Q1 and Q2 in pretty slick conditions. Jason would start from P1 into the 15 minute A-main and after a few laps the 2nd placed driver made a mistake which gave Jason some breathing room that he would manage to come home with the win. Mike Montgomery (Xray) would come in 2nd from James Coker (Tekno) in 3rd.

The 2017/18 season of the popular Mibosport Cup Winter Series will kick off on the weekend of the 14th of October in Hrotovice. Attracting almost 400 drivers in total including the likes of Ronald Völker, Lee Martin, Viljami Kutvonen, Alexander Hagberg, Viktor Wilck, Hupo Hönigl, Martin Hudy and Martin Bayer, last year’s series was again a great success. This year the series is run in the eight classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock LRP, Formula, 1/12th scale as well as 2WD and 4WD Buggy. New categories are 2WD Stock 17.5T and 4WD Stock 13.5T Buggy. The Touring Modified and Formula classes will roll on Volante tyres, the Stock class utilises Sweep rubber while the off-road categories will run the brand new Schumacher Cactus tyres. As usual the on-road races will be run on the proven black ETS carpet while the off-road track is laid out with the same carpet as used at the EOS. The AMC Langenfeld club in Germany will play host to the 2017 Vintage Off Road Elektro Meeting from the 30th of September to the 1st of October. The VOREM2017 will be held in a range of different classes including 1980’s 2WD and 4WD Buggies, 1990’s 2WD and 4WD Buggies, Youngtimer Buggy, Monster Truck, Wheelie Fun and Fighter Buggy. The club’s grippy astro turf track allows to use a wide range of tyres and more information including rules, sign-up and more can be found on the official event website here (in German language).
The fourth round of the Czech 1/8th Off-road Nationals was held in Skripov recently. The track was nicely prepared and watering meant the traction, that was low at the beginning, would come up soon. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class Ales Bidovsky dominated Q1, while Jiri Mara took a super close TQ in Q2. The third round was won by Kaja Novotny by just few tenths in front of Ales Bidovsky and this meant the overall TQ went to Ales from Kaja and Jiri. Over in 1/8th E-Buggy Kaja Novotny was on fire, TQing all three rounds meant a clean sweep for the TQ while also setting a new track record. Behind him Max Gotzl and Ales Bidovsky would round out the top 3 for now.

The NSW State Championships here held recently and in the Nitro Truggy class it was Xray’s Ari Bakla with the win. Ari qualified 2nd but in the 45-minute main final he battled it out with Jarred King (Agama) over the full race distance to finally bring home the silverware with the closest of margins from Jarred in 2nd. Shane O’Conner (HB Racing) would round out the podium results in 3rd.
The third round of the SARDA South African Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the TRAP Raceway recently. The short yet fast carpet track made for some exiting racing action and in the 2WD and 4WD Modified buggy classes it was Charles Hollander with the wins while TQ holder Darryn Hill brought home the silverware in the 17.5T 2WD and 13.5T 4WD Stock Buggy classes. Finally in 17.5T Boosted Stadium Truck it was Riaan Truscott with the TQ and win.
