Joel Eaton wins Super Stock Buggy at April Fools Classic

The April Fools Classic hosted by Murf’s Intermountain R/C Raceway for the past 29 years hit a record high 365 entries this year. Super Stock Buggy was a nail biter for Joel Eaton (Xray). Starting from the TQ position lap 1 was perfect for him but entering the infield burm turn on lap 2 his car unexpectedly hit a bump and flipped causing the car to fly end over end onto the straightaway. Luckily for him most of the field also had issues through the 180 degree burm turn and Joel was able to rejoin in 3rd. By lap 3 he was already back in second and had a race long chase to catch leader Charley Cavalier (TLR) with in the closing stages. Pushing Charlie he made a mistake over the huge booter triple that allowed Joel to pass as he crashed. Eaton was able to hit his marks and take home the win from there, taking home the win from Charlie Cavalier 2nd and Tony Newland (Schumacher) 3rd.

After all five rounds of qualifying were complete, it was HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk securing the overall TQ honours. The single 10-minute A-main event saw a great battle for the first couple of laps between David Ronnefalk and Xray’s Ty Tessmann. On lap five Tessmann was able to get by Ronnefalk and open up a lead. Tessmann would then control the race for the next couple minutes before coming under pressure from Kyosho’s Elliott Boots. Scott Robert wins RC Mania Race

The 2017 RC Mania race is a unique event as it is molded after a wrestling survivor series, two days on two different tracks, no podiums, just an overall champ of that class. The champ of course, is awarded the belt.  After two rounds of qualifying Scott Robert had set TQ in both Modified 2WD buggy and Modified 4WD Buggy. In the main events Scott concentrated on making clean consistent laps and while he didn’t have the hot lap, he was able to win both A main events on the turf. This would put him in good points standings heading into the second day. After the first round of qualifying Scott Robert was TQ in Modified 4WD buggy and 4th in Modified 2WD buggy. Scott would make a few changes and take TQ in Mod 2WD buggy as well. The 4wd A main would be the first main and Scott would lead the race with a decent lead until he would hit a pipe pin on the drop down on the left side of the track breaking an arm. Scott was nursing his buggy around the track to finish second, but would retain overall champ for that class.  In 2WD, Scott focused again on clean consistent laps not crashing once the whole race which gave him a cushion to drive clean and win from the start, taking the overall title.
