The opening round of the Cordobes Championship was held in Rio Cuarto on a bumpy low-grip track. In the Buggy Masters category is was Nicolas Bregante who walked away with the win while in Buggy Open is was Matias Caraballido who took the winning honours. Buggy Junior saw the win of Sebastian Krampotic while the Truggy Junior class was taken by Nico Marco.
Reedy have announced the second annual Reedy Outdoor Off-Road Championships hosted by Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California from November 18th to 20th. With an old school feel and watered track, the event made its debut last year to the praise of many. Classes run are the proven mix of Modified and Stock Buggy, Stadium Truck and Short Course Truck and more information as well as the entry form are available here.
Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, will be playing host to the Futaba Electric Challenge from September 16th to 18th. Friday, September 16 will be used as an open practice day, so drivers can get their vehicles dialed-in to both the outdoor and indoor tracks. Saturday’s events are scheduled for the outdoor track but will be moved to the indoor track in case of inclement weather. Points earned on Saturday will be combined with points earned on Sunday to determine final standings. Classes run are E-Buggy, Stock and Modified 2WD and 4WD buggy, Stock 2WD short course, Modified 2WD and 4WD short course as well as Stock 2WD buggy, truck and rookie. The organisers of the inaugural 2016 Dragon Stone Asian Nitro Buggy Championship in Luoyang City, China, have announced the addition of RC Concept’s Jerome Treignier to the ever growing field of drivers and supporters. SWorkz have announced a change in organisation as Austrian company MW RC Cars and Taiwan-based Speedmster Hobby Co. LTD will take over the SWorkz brand. In the future MW RC Cars will be responsible for strategic planning and sales in Europe and the U.S. while Speedmaster will take care of development and production of the SWorkz kits as well as marketing and sales for the Asian markets.

The 2016 JConcepts Super Cup Series kicked off its fall session last weekend at NewRed Hobbies indoor facility located in Ocala, Florida. NewRed Hobbies has a very unique surface, as they were one of the first tracks in the country to start using “Soiltac” exclusively. The glued surface makes the tire choice very simple as everyone runs slicks. With 225 entries, race director Lance MacDonald got qualifying rolling promptly at 9:30am. Qualifying was highly contested throughout the two rounds, but it’s in the main events where the points are claimed. Modified 2WD Buggy saw Paul Wynn take his vehicle with laydown transmission to the top spot on the podium while Daimon Borkowicz put in a flawless wire-to-wire win from his TQ spot in the insanely fast 4WD Modified Buggy class. Elsewhere AJ Marasco would take his buggy from the TQ position to a wire-to-wire victory in the highly contested Expert Stock 17.5 Buggy class.

Round four of the Belgian SCT Cup was held in Enghien as part of an RC show that featured aircrafts, boats and of course RC cars. The organising BRTC crew put in lot of efforts in building a temporary track in front of the park’s castle, and it would pay off with the series’ highest ever entry count ever. The nature of the grass track made setup and tyre choice a bit of a task as traction levels changed much over the course of the day. Racing wise and in Pro2 qualification, Laurent Halluin (Team C) started the day with a win in Q1 ahead of Géry Ledocq (Kyosho) and Philippe Hautecoeur (Team Associated). In the second round, Géry came out fastest ahead of Laurent and Samuel Castel (TLR). In the final round Géry was able to secure the overall TQ with another fastest time, again ahead of Samuel and Laurent. Those 3 clearly had a higher pace than the rest of the pack with all three being very close together in terms of performance.

This past weekend the 2016 Great Lakes Showdown was held at The Track in Michigan. The “The Track” venue offers a large 1/8th off-road track as well as a smaller 1/10th off-road track and it was Adam Drake that was the top qualifier in Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truck, and 1/8th E-Buggy. Drake went on to win both 45 minute Nitro finals as well as the two 10 minute E-Buggy A-main legs to make it a title trifecta.
