Ben Sterling teams up with JQRacing

JQRacing have announced that top Australian driver Ben Sterling has joined the Australian National JQRacing Team for 2015. Ben has been into RC Racing for 14 years now and therefore his experience is one of his greatest assets, paired with his driving abilities that make him one of the fastest drivers in Australia. Ben had the following to say about the deal:

I would like to say thank you to JQRacing for having me on board their National team for 2015 and beyond. I believe in their product and believe they have the best team and marketing around. I hope to get some great results for them and help promote the brand to the best of my abilities.

Adam Drake sweeps JBRL Nitro Series Rd2

Palm Desert RC Raceway hosted round two of the popular JBRL Nitro Series with the event attracting some 200 entries and a good mixture of World-class drivers and local talent. Adam Drake was top qualifier in the Expert Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck classes. In the premier 1/8th Nitro Buggy class final Mugen driver Drake took the win from Kyosho’s Cody King in 2nd and TLR driver Mark Pavidis who finished in 3rd.

Ryan Maifield doubles at Lonestar Challenge

The Dirt crew rolled into Hutto, Texas, for the Lonestar Challenge last weekend. With a fresh track layout built with that Nitro Challenge flair, racers were excited for Thursday’s practice. World travellers Ryan Maifield and Cole Ogden flew in to compete at the Thornhill Racing Circuit to compete against some of the finest local talent in Texas. Friday’s qualifying started with Ryan Maifield taking TQ runs in 1/8th Buggy and Truggy with teammate Cole Ogden taking 2nd quick-time. With weather concerns starting in the area, the race management crew decided to shorten the race to a 2-day event placing main events on Saturday evening. As qualifying rolled on, Maifield continued to dominate in qualifying.

Tony Evdoka wins at TORCH Summer Series Rd2

The second round of the TORCH Summer Series saw Serpent’s Tony Evdoka taking the win in the triple A-mains of the 2WD buggy class. Serpent driver Dan Harper Brown came in 2nd while local hero Stephen Brown, driving a Schumacher, finished in 3rd. Craig Maher with his Serpent rounded off the top 4 spots.

Wicaksono wins Jakarta Regional Buggy Champs Rd2

The 2nd round of Jakarta Regional Buggy Championship was held at the Jati Bening track with a total of 45 drivers attending the event. The race format was three rounds of 10 minutes qualifying times with the two best rounds to count followed by bump-up finals. After the qualifying Adrian Sutanto (HongNor) took the TQ honours but in the main final it was Adrian Wicaksono (Kyosho) who came out successful in front of Jason Nugroho (Xray) in 2nd place and John Agus (Kyosho) in 3rd.

Maanson & Kobbevik win at Swedish Summercup Rd1

The first round of the popular Swedish Summercup was held at the Skarpneck track in Stockholm in the classes of 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy. After the timed practice local racer Niclas Maanson was on top of the timing sheets of the 2WD class while Daniel Kobbevik set the pace in 4WD. Both drivers would also be still on top in their respective classes after the three rounds of qualifying, to start from pole position into the A-mains.

Cutini & Castro win at South American Offroad Champs

The Speed Paradise track in Argentina played host for the 2015 South American Off-road Championships. The event attracted drivers from many different countries including US boy Kris Moore of Mugen USA. The TQ honours in the Nitro Buggy class went to Agustin Cutini while in the Truggy class the TQ was set by Adrian Castro. In the Buggy final Agustin Cutini (Mugen) was able to conserve his qualifying performance to come out successful in front of Sebastian Recio (Mugen) and Adrian Castro (Mugen) while in the Truggy class Adrian Castro (Mugen) grabbed the title. Agustin Cutini (Mugen) came in 2nd, Marco Amaral (TLR) rounded out the podium.

Cassar & Agius win at Maltese Off-road Nationals Rd4

Round 4 of the Maltese 1/8th Nitro Buggy and Truggy National Championship was held at the MMORRC track in hot ambient temperatures and on a partly dusty track. The fight for the win in the F1 class was on between 2014 champion Kyle Spiteri and Dillon Cassar. Kyle took the TQ but finished 2nd in a main that had Dillon walking away with the win. Chris Zahra came in 3rd in the F1 class final.
