Mike Truhe wins at Midwest Nitro Series

The first ever LiveRC race which was also a stop of the Midwest Nitro Series was held at Brandon Rohde’s house where he has built a nice track in his backyard. The race had around 160 entries with a lot of the Midwest’s fastest guys in attendance. Serpent’s Mike Truhe was able to TQ in the Nitro Buggy class and he went on to convert that TQ position into to a victory with comfortable drive in the final.

5th Annual NW Invitational race – Report

Dave’s RC Track in Hubbard, Oregon hosted the 5th Annual NW Invitational race on a glorious weekend of outdoor fun in the blazing sun. Previously, the great NW Invitationals were held at a tight, indoor clay track, but due to track closures and changes  race organizer and Kyosho/Orion team manager Joe Pillars, decided to host this year’s event on an huge outdoor, loamy “dirt” dirt track. Originally, Ryan Cavalieri was scheduled for attendance, but due to 1/8th Worlds in a few weeks, unfortunately he was busy testing and perfecting his prototype RC8.

Belgian SCT Cup Rd6 – Report

Belgian SCT Cup Rd6 – Report

Round 6 of the Belgian SCT Cup took place at the famous MBV Kampenhout track. Being used to organise national and international events the club provided a perfect organisation and an awesome astroturf track. As usual the day started on a wet and slippery track but in time for the first qualifier the track had dried, offering tons of grip. In the Pro2 class, Nicolas Evens (TLR) swept all four qualifiers, being the only driver to make 12 lap runs in each round. The following three drivers on the grid all scored a 2nd and 3rd place as best results but the fastest time handed Julian André (TLR) the runner-up spot on the grid, ahead of Laurent Halluin (Team Associated) and Philippe Hautecoeur (Team Associated). Pascal Bouffioux (Team Associated) completed the top 5 in the 2WD class.

Ryan Cavalieri takes E-buggy class at SNE

The eleventh annual Sidewinder Nitro Explosion was held at Heritage RC Park in Chula Vista, CA. Team Associated driver, Ryan Cavalieri, had an exceptional weekend with a TQ and win in the E-buggy class outperforming Lucas Sanford (Kyosho) in 2nd and Chad Panek (Tekno RC) in 3rd spot.

Chad Due takes 2WD at Futaba Electric Challenge

This weekend was the Futaba Electric Challenge hosted by Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. This very unique event which competes on both indoor and outdoor surfaces across two days of racing to crown an overall champion. The first day of competition started on Leisure Hours’ flowing, high-grip indoor track. In 2WD, Chad Due was able to TQ two of the three rounds of qualifying to start first on the grid in the main, followed by Ryan Lutz (Team Durango) and fellow Team Associated teammate Corey Liebherr. In the main, the first few laps were very clean and then a mistake by Ryan and Corey gave room for Mason Perillo (Team Associated). At the end Chad was able to cruise to the finish with Mason taking 2nd and Ryan 3rd.

Ryan Maifield doubles at Sidewinder Nitro Explosion

The 2014 Sidewinder Nitro Explosion was held at the Heritage R/C Park in Chula Vista, CA. The annual event promoted and directed by Jimmy Babcock continually brings out the best drivers from Southern California. Qualifying started with the awaited Ryan and Ryan show with TLR’s Ryan Maifield taking round 1 of the 1/8th Pro buggy class with Ryan Cavalieri piloting the new AE prototype to 2nd in the round. Truggy qualifying in round 1 also went the way of Maifield taking the 0 qual point for the round and holding an early edge in both competitive classes. The detailed track built by Don Vinkemulder had that distinctive California flow incorporating rollers, floating jump sections and elevation changes. With a slightly watered surface, tire wear was nonexistent during qualifying with only dry sections really forming toward the end of un-watered races.

Richard Taylor joins Schumacher

Schumacher welcome Richard “Tricky” Taylor to their off road team. Richard’’s long and successful career in 1/10th off road includes four BRCA National Championship titles, twice EFRA Euros podium finisher, and an IFMAR Worlds A-final. In recent years Richard has been running 1/8th off-road, where he has achieved A-final positions at the Neo buggy race and several British nationals. Now, concentrating on 1/10th again, with his new CAT K1 Aero and Cougar KF cars, Richard will be a top contender at the popular Chadderton indoor series this winter and BRCA Nationals in 2015.
