Mibosport Cup 2014/15 – Announcement

The 2014/15 season of the popular Mibosport Cup Winter Series will kick off on the weekend of the 1st of November in the city of Hrotovice, host of the opening round of the 2014/15 ETS. Attracting 299 drivers in total including the likes of Ronald Völker, Marc Rheinard, Marc Fischer, Martin Bayer and Marek Cerny last year’s series was great success. This year’s series is run in the six classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock LRP, Formula 1, 1/12 and 2WD and 4WD Buggy. More information can be found here.

Belgian SCT Cup Rd7 – Report

The penultimate round of the Belgian SCT Cup was held at the BRTC club’s track, the place SC racing started in Belgium some years ago. The race marked the final outdoor event of the year and despite a sunny start into the weekend, on race day the track was very wet. A few brave drivers tackled the first qualifier anyway only to find that the trucks would collect loads of dirt but as time went by the track started to dry, making for better conditions and allowing more drivers to start into the second round of qualifiers.

Dustin Evans victorious at 2014 Gold Cup

Tacoma R/C Raceway hosted the annual Gold Cup event to kick off the fall/winter racing season and this year’s special guest was none other than former National Champion and previous Reedy Race Champion, Dustin Evans. When the JConcepts tour came into town last spring, it wasn’t sure if the track ever see any other big names come back. For those who don’t know, racing at TRCR isn’’t easy as the local fast guys are extremely fast. Countless hours of practice results in critical knowledge of the dirt, car setup, and layout of this awesome racing facility.

Dutch Buggy Cup final round – Report

The final round of the Dutch Buggy Cup was scheduled to be held at the MVW Astro turf race track in Purmerend. The weather forecast for Saturday was sunny and dry but rain was predicted during the night and when the drivers arrived at the track on Sunday morning the surface was damp and the temperature dropped to 16 degrees. This meant drivers were left with the choice to change to a wet setup or wait for the track to dry and use Saturday’s settings and at the end many drivers choose to only change the tyres and anti-roll bars to adapt to the damp track.

Hooks & Harrison win at Southern Nationals

The 2014 Southern Nationals was held in Monroe Louisiana with the race being set-up for 3 rounds of qual points and triple A-mains. 1/8 E-buggy had Tyler Hooks taking the overall win with team mate Brian Henn along with Chad Panek in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Tom Cockerill doubles at Petit RC Race

The 9th running of the PetitRC Race was held in Terrugum, Portugal with drivers from the UK, Poland, Holland, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal in attendance. The track was a permanently laid outdoor Astroturf track, with plenty of jumps and a good flow, which made for some great close racing. The event format was for free practice on Friday with the 2WDs being run on Saturday and 4WD on Sunday, allowing plenty of track time for all the drivers.

Last weekend the 2nd annual Race for the Cure event was held at IERC Raceway. TLR’s Ronda Drake TQ’ed and won the 1/8th Expert E-Buggy class while also finishing 2nd in the Pro4 SC category.

Joseph Quagraine wins Finnish 1/8th off-road champs

JQ Products’ Joseph Quagraine has won this year’s Finnish 1/8th off-road national championship for the 3rd time in a row. This year’s series showed some promising signs of a new generation of drivers getting into the fight for wins, with Joona Haatanen, Max Mört, and Joonas Hyvärinen all showing great form and huge improvements this year. In the 4th and final round Joseph (JQ/Reds/AKA) came out successful in front of Jarno Siltanen (Mugen/Novarossi/Beta) and Samppa Orhanen (Kyosho/Alpha/Beta). In the overall championship Ari Heinonen (Kyosho/Alpha/Beta) took the runner-up spot behind Joseph with Joona Haatanen (AE/Novarossi/JC) completing the top 3.
