Carson Wernimont renews with Schumacher

Up and coming Californian driver Carson Wernimont agreed a contract extension with Schumacher through to the end of 2015, which means that he will be representing the UK manufacturer at major USA and international 1/10th Off Road races, including the IFMAR Worlds in Japan. Carson has had a great year since he switched to Schumacher, with a big win at Motorama and A mains at the Cactus Classic and EOS, and he is sure to be a strong contender in the future.

Victor Wilck joins Serpent nitro team

Tamiya’s Viktor Wilck has teamed-up with Serpent to run the company’s nitro on-road and off-road vehicles, the Dutch company announce. The Swede will run the new Natrix 748 1/10th car at this year’s EFRA Euros and IFMAR Worlds, he will use the 1/8th Viper 977 at the Euros and Nordic champs and he will also have a bit of fun in the dirt while racing the Cobra 811 buggy at the Nordics. We understand that his contract with Tamiya to race the company’s electric chassis is not affected by his new endeavour.

Kev Lee doubles at oOple Off-Road Open Series Rd1

The 2014 season of the oOoos kicked off at Stotfold last weekend. Being in its second year the series is meant to address the average driver and will compromise of a total of four events in 2014. New for ’14 is also a vintage RC10 “Gold Tub” class run with handout 21.5T brushless motors. 2WD Buggy was pretty much dominated by Kev Lee who swept the A-final leaving Stuart Wood and Gregg Williams behind. Kev then also went on to triple-win the 4WD mains with Ben Jemison and Stuart Wood completing the podium. In the Gold Tub class James McFadyean also took undefeated wins to take the overall victory. Paparegas brothers take 1-2 at Greek off-road nats Rd1

The first round of the Greek 1/8th off-road nationals was held on the island of Crete. In qualifying Tasos Paparegas took TQ from Papanikolaou while Agrafiotis ended in 3rd position. In the final Tasos was able to pretty much cruise to the win with his brother John, coming from 5th on the grid, ending the race two laps down in 2nd position just 2 seconds in front of local hot shot Anapoliotakis.

Van Helmond & Konings win at Dutch offroad nats Rd2

Last weekend the 2nd round of the combined Belgium and Dutch electric off-road nationals took place at the redesigned astro turf track of Metchtem in Belgium. The qualification in the 2WD class was a close affair between Wouter Wijnen and Wesley von Helmond with both winning one of the first two qualifiers. The final round would decide and at the end it was Wesley who put his TLR on pole in front of Wouter Wijnen and Nik Weyers.

Robert Battle takes Spanish buggy nats Rd1

The 1st round of the Spanish nitro off-road nationals took place at the challenging Antas track. In qualifying, to the surprise of many, multi-national champion, Robert Battle (Mugen/Novarossi) only placed himself in 2nd position as Neo14 Junior champion, Oscar Baldo (Mugen/Novarossi), took the overall TQ. Oscar then also went on to win the semi A while Robert successfully ended the semi B but but with a slower time, handing Oscar the pole position for the final.

Renaud Savoya wins at French Buggy nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the French 1/8th off-road nationals was held in Toulouse in very rainy conditions. The race marked the last chance for many drivers to qualify for the World Championships and in the final the race was on between Jerome Aigoin (Kyosho) who took TQ, his brother Yannick (Team Associated) and Renaud Savoya (Xray). At the end it was Renaud who came in first after a long battle with Yannick and Jerome. Yannick grabbed the runner-up spot some 18 second behind the Xray drivers while Jerome completed the podium in 3rd. Jerome Sartel and Edouardo Hugon completed the top 5 result.

Neumann caps off EOS with win #10

Joern Neumann has capped of the third season of the Euro Offroad Series with the overall win in Austria, a result that brings the Team Durango tally of 4WD Buggy victories in the championship to 10.  Having sewn up his third consecutive championship title in A2, the German would go on to win the closing race of the Modelbau Wels Hobby Show event to take victory at the season finale ahead of Top Qualifier Naoto Matsukura with young star and Durango team-mate Michal Qrlowski completing the podium.
