Bloomfield & Martin win as Cragg takes second title

Bloomfield & Martin win as Cragg takes second title

After winning the 2013 BRCA 4WD buggy national championship early during the penultimate round of the BRCA electric off-road nats Team Associated’s Neil Cragg also brought home this year’s 2WD buggy title. Leading the points coming into the final round in Oswestry Neil had the best chances to make the double and even a TQ and win of TLR’s Darren Bloomfield did not stop the former World Champion from taking home the 2WD honours. In the 4WD class it was Lee Martin who grabbed the TQ and win but as the title was already decided it was only a win for the books.

Summer Scorcher 2013 – Report

Summer Scorcher 2013 – Report

The 2013 Summer Scorcher was hosted by the legendary Phil Hurd Raceway, the race had about 86 entries and as usual the Score crew put on a great event with tremendous hospitality. The race format for the Summer Scorcher would be three rocket rounds of qualifying and 10 minute A-mains which meant a long day in the Georgia sun and a race that would possibly go into the night. Qualifying in SCT 4×4 and 1/8th E-Buggy was dominated by John Bernard and Travis Dupree and so it was no surprise that John lead the short course A final from start to finish with his Tekno SCT410 with fellow JConcepts driver, Jonathan Paulk finishing second. Travis and John also battled it out in the E-Buggy final and when the leg started Travis checked out and never looked back taking the win from John. In 1/10th Stadium Truck Tim Smith TQ’d and won while Travis Dupree TQ’d and won the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class with Kevin Bullock in 2nd.

John Myall wins 4WD at East of England champs

John Myall wins 4WD at East of England champs

The 2013 East of England BRCA championship climaxed with an epic battle in 4WD last weekend. Both champion and vice champion spots were up for grabs, and John Myall was defending one and vying for the other. A tight qualifying saw a joint TQ from Ben Hubbard and John Myall with both achieving two 1st in rounds. John, a new addition to the X-Factory team, had a choice of 4WD chassis and opted for the Durango DEX410. Going to count back, it was the faster time John set that gave him pole and secured a minimum of vice champion spot. Now it was just between John and Rob York for top spot on the day and subsequently the championship. After three legs of hard fought battles between an evenly matched A-Final group, it was John who took the win and the championship. With over 83 drivers competing in the East of England series, it is now recognised as a championship worth contending.

Ronnefalk wins Swedish 4WD buggy title

Ronnefalk wins Swedish 4WD buggy title

Last weekend the Swedish 1/10th electric off-road championships took place in Falun. At first it looked like the race had to be cancelled due to the weather but the rain soon stopped and the club did a very good job to dry and prepare the track for racing. Due to the delay there was no time for practice anymore and qualifying started right away. In the 4WD class Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk scored the only 16 lap run handing him the TQ in this round using Kyosho’s new 4WD prototype buggy. Some three or four heats into the second round the rain started again and brought racing to a halt but it soon cleared up and the race resumed with round number three and four with the latter being again won by David who suffered time keeping problems in round three so TQ’ing the final qualifier was vital for a good starting position.

Rivkin & Fiege win at ROAR 10th electric off-road nats

The 2013 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals visited Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, California to determine the top drivers in North America. Seven classes were scheduled to compete on the hard-packed Silver Dollar surface with a newly installed track configuration designed specifically for this event. Track guru Kevin Jelich designed the layout, which incorporated challenging obstacles and jumps, including several elevation changes, off-camber turns, and varying track widths. It became clear early on that driving skill, setup, tire choice, motor/battery choice, and ESC setup would all play important roles in the final outcome.
