This past weekend was the Presidents Day Money Race at EN Hobbies. The race brought in 100 entries with drivers from all over the midwest. The race saw three rocket rounds of qualifying and single A mains. TLR team member JP Richards put on a great show at the Presidents Day Race and won 2WD Modified ahead of Dustin Richards and Luke Richards. JP also was successful in the Pro-2 class with his Team Losi Racing 22 SCT.

Raduga RC Raceway and Rotor Club have been in touch to announce the first international RC Off-road Event in Russia, called ‘Russian Extreme Race’, which will take place in the heart of the European part of Russia from June 21-23, 2013. The race will be run on a nicely located dirt track and is open to both 1/8th gas and Electric and will be run according to EFRA rules. More details can be found here.
A Main Hobbies’ Outback Raceway will be hosting it’s annual Outback Shootout March 1st through March 3rd to kick-off the indoor racing season. Outback’s indoor track is known for its consistent, high-bite clay surface and challenging layouts. The pits are heated and there are classes for all electric off-road racers. Competitors will automatically be entered to win dozens of raffled prizes from our sponsors. A Main Hobbies’ massive inventory will be available to racers who need miscellaneous parts while competing and those will conveniently delivered to their pit spaces. Last weekend was the sixth Mibosport Cup presented by Yokomo. This race attracted about 110 drivers from Czech Republic and many other European countries. As usual the race was held for a variety of electric onroad and also offroad classes such as 2WD and 4WD buggy, Stock Zero 17.5T, Modified TC, Formula and Yokomo GT. Also Dash for Voucher Race was added to main race and it was again great show. The organizer drew one of the offroad categories – final B 4WD and the fastest driver was Marcel Dostál.

The seventh round of the HNMC Winter series took place at the HNMC’s Astro turf track rather than the dirt track due to very bad weather. Qualifying was dominated by Tony Truman but he had bad luck with water in a switch in the main final, this allowed Gary Brace to take a good win from Callum Niblett and Bart Banach 3rd. In the truggy class is was Richard Cousins who took the win from Harry Philips and Rod Adams.

Xray announce that 200mm Nitro World Champion Ralph Burch will stay with the Slovakian manufacturer trough 2013 and that the US super star will participate in all on-road classes this year. Additionally he will race electric off-road races with the new XB4. Ralph says:
I have been racing with Xray team since the very beginning since I have started to race the very first T1 more than 12 years ago. Over the years we have built a very effective team work & cooperation which has resulted into some of my best achievements in my racing career including the World Champion title. I am very proud to represent this finest company and I am very happy that our cooperation will continue and I hope some more great results will come either for me or for anyone at the Xray team. I have been available to any Xray drivers with any their questions or comments and I am looking forward to see you all during the 2013 at the races.

Last weekend the annual Montpellier GP, season opener for the 1/8th nitro buggy class, took place and it was Kyosho’s Elliott Boots who took the TQ honours with his Novarossi powered and Pro-Line shoe’d Kyosho. The race saw a close finish between Boots and Xray’s Reno Savoya with Team Associated driver Yannick Aigion completing the podium.

Ryan Maifield secured the buggy double on his debut in the JConcepts Indoor National Series, the factory Associated ace driving another faultless round of Mains to wrap up the overall 2 & 4WD Buggy wins early. Starting the season opening Winter Indoor Nationals at SmacTrac in St.Louis, Missouri as Top Qualifier, the Arizona driver made it look easy winning both A2 encounters easily over Kyosho’s Cody Turner in 2WD and his own team-mate & defending Champion Steven Hartson in 4WD. Featuring a busy but narrow track layout that made any overtaking difficult, the second round of A-Mains saw the other three main classes of the series decided. In Mod Truck Jared Tebo put the win beyond his rivals with another tone to tone performance while team-mate Turner bagged the 2WD Short Course win. For MIP’s Matt Olson the weekend was the perfect start to his 4WD Short Course title defense as he claimed the overall win for Round 1 of the 5 race series.
