Ryan Cavalieri triple at ROAR Super Nationals

For the 2012 installment of the ROAR Electric Off Road Nationals, the decision was made to create a “Super Nationals” combining 2WD Buggy, 4WD Buggy and Racing Truck all in to one four-day event. Then with a day off between, the second half of the event concludes with 2WD Short Course, 4WD Short Course and 1:8 eBuggy. We are now currently halfway through the event and Team Associated has already secured five National Championships. The standout performance of the first half of the event was from Ryan Cavalieri and his Pro-Line shod Team Associated vehicles. Cavalieri TQ’d 2WD, 4WD, and Truck Modified with his Factory Team B4.1 Worlds Edition, Factory Team B44.1, and Factory Team T4.1. In dominant fashion, Cavalieri took the win in all three classes by winning the first two of the triple A Mains to complete the event sweep. This is the second time that RC has completed the sweep of the ROAR Nationals, with the first time coming in 2007 at ARCOR Raceway in Albuquerque, NM. Joining Cavalieri with TQ’s and wins for Team Associated were Nolan Anderson in Truck Stock and Zack Genova in 4WD Stock.

2012 Summer Showdown report

The 2012 Summer Showdown presented by Scotty Ernst was run this past weekend at Clark RC Park in Reeseville, WI. Fantastic racing all day long with exciting mains that were decided on the last lap. Expert Truggy had Jeremy Whiting take the TQ and lead the field out. A battle between Whiting, Jeff Wood and Jeff Stanford ensued as the 30 minute main got under way. Stanford unfortunately suffered mechanical issues keeping him out of the race and Jeremy Whiting opened up a lead. With only minutes left in the race Whiting had a tire come unglued and it looked as if disaster would strike but ace pitman Vic Elliot changed the tire on a pit stop fast enough to allow Whiting to keep the lead and take home the victory. Jeff Wood finished 2nd and Dave Bengtson finished in the 3rd spot.

The 32nd 1:8 Offroad European Championships was a race of firsts in Fehring, Austria as Darren Bloomfield won a thrilling last lap battle with Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk to become the first British driver to win the title as well as securing his first ever European title and giving Team Losi Racing and his tyre sponsor AKA their first crown in EFRA’s longest running championship.  Bloomfield’s 1.9 second win over Ronnefalk, who retains his European Junior title, brings Mugen’s four year reign as manufacturers’ champion to an end as outgoing champion Robert Batlle had to settle for the final step on the podium.

Bloomfield Top Qualifier in Austria

Team Losi Racing’s Darren Bloomfield is the Top Qualifier at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships, the British ace wrapping up the honour in Fehring, Austria, in style when he took his Novarossi powered 8ight around the high speed track in the fastest time of the 32nd running of the event in the fifth & final round of qualifying.  Having set the pace in yesterday’s opening qualifier, Bloomfield was already assured of his first overall Euros TQ before his final heat as challengers David Ronnefalk crashed on his run and Renaud Savoya got T-boned as he was on a TQ pace.  In the group that would bring qualifying to a conclusion still to run Bloomfield drove a ‘nearly perfect’ 5-minute run to once again post the fastest lap of the round and a new outright fastest run time.

Savoya TQ’s penultimate qualifier

Xray’s Renaud Savoya has TQ’d the penultimate round of qualifying at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships in Austria while great rival & defending champion Robert Batlle had his run to the 3rd fastest time struck off after his Mugen was deemed to be too wide in post race scrutiny something his Mugen team firmly dispute as the buggy was running the same set-up as yesterday when the MBX6R had no problems with passing through the box being used by race officials.
