Wouter Wynen wins Rd3 of Benelux Championship

Privateer Wouter Wynen, driving an X Factory X-6 Squared, won the third round of the Benelux Championship held over the weekend at MAC Vlijmen. Wynen TQ’d the event and won A1, looking sure to take all the marbles. But in A2, youngster Wesley Von Helmond came from 3rd on the grid to nip Wouter, so Wynen needed to finish A3 ahead of Von Helmond in order to sew up the win. Wouter and Wesley pulled away in A3, Wesley leading, with X-Team driver Bruno Heremans in a comfortable third. Midway through the race Wesley clipped the inside pipe of two successive corners and Wouter got through into the lead with Bruno closing right up in third. With just two corners to go, there was contact between the two leaders and “Elvo” Heremans slipped by to take the win in A3. So Wouter Wynen’s X-6 Squared won the event, with Elvo and Wesley tied on points. The countback gave Wesley second and Elvo third.

2012 Super Cup Spring Session Rd3 report

This was the second attempt to run round 3 of the 2012 Spring Super Cup Series. Back in March they were able to get things started but before we could complete the first round of qualifying the skies opened up and our racing was done for the weekend. The days leading up to this make-up race were not looking promising. The normal 40% chance of showers on Saturday and some very heavy rains hit the area earlier in the week had some nervous that we would not see a Round 3. With some amazing work by the Hurricane R/C track crew and several volunteers they were able to get the track repaired and in decent shape for Friday practice. Saturday’s weather was next to perfect, a little warm but we stayed dry all day. The track came around and everyone had a great day of racing once again.
