Drake & Moller wins Rd1 of TLR Winter Series

Round 1 of the TLR Winter Series was this past weekend at Revelation Raceway and the event had 10 heats. TLR, Novarossi, Pro-Line driver Adam Drake TQ’d both rounds of qualifying in the 1/8th Pro Buggy class. JQ was the only other driver to turn 8 laps in qualifying, but was 7 seconds behind Drake. In the 30 minute buggy final Adam checked out on the field and won by more than one lap over JQ and Drew Moller. Drew Moller would win the 20 minute truck final, Drew and Adam had a good battle until Drake ran out of fuel. Moller cruised to the victory followed by Cody Smith and Adam Drake.

Lee Martin joins Byron Fuels

European Champion Lee Martin has added Byron Fuels to his 1/8th package as he looks to step up his racing with his new factory Mugen drive for the 2012 season. With so many fuels on the market it can become a minefield as to what to select. But with Byron Fuels outstanding reliability, performance and engine protection the choice became a simple one for Lee, allowing him more time to spend on chassis tuning rather than engine set-up.

Rumble in the Rockies report

This past weekend was the Rumble in the Rockies hosted by MHOR R/C Raceway in Denver, Colorado. There were nearly 200 entries with drivers from many parts of the country which would make for some good racing. The layout for the event was very high speed and combined with a small track size, the lap times dropped into the 11-12 second range. Dustin Evans would take TQ honors in the Modified 2wd buggy class by taking rounds 2, 3 and 4. Kody Numedahl and Michael Schoettler would qualify 2nd and 3rd respectively. Kody took A-1 and Michael took A-2 which meant that A-3 would determine the winner. Kody bobbled on the first lap but made his way back up to second only behind Dustin. A three way tie would go in Kody’s favor by .2 seconds giving him the overall win.

Lee Martin confirmed for Belgian EOS encounter

Having been forced to miss the opening round of the inaugural TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series presented by Horizon Hobby due to 1:8 Offroad commitments, Tamiya Racing Factory’s Lee Martin has confirmed his entry for the second encounter of the exciting new 1:10 electric offroad series that will take place in Belgium over the weekend of March 9-11. The current back to back European 2WD & British 4WD Champion will go head to head with factory driver line-ups from TLR and Team Durango on the indoor astroturf track in Charleroi where he will be aiming to deny Jörn Neumann a repeat of his domination of the opening race in the Czech Republic last weekend. Hartson & Thielke victorious at JC Indoor Nats

Now in its second year, the JConcepts Indoor National tour makes its first stop in St. Louis, MO, at the popular SmacTrac facility. Greeted by 370+ entries for the two-day event, racers were pumped to get the series underway at the competitive indoor clay facility. With a track size of roughly 90′ x 40′, the racing was tight and heated throughout the classes. Team Associated/LRP/Reedy driver Steven Hartson made his first trip to St. Louis and quickly proved he had the speed to sit at the top of the field. Taking the top qualifying position in 2WD Modified, 4WD Modified and 4WD Short Course, the California native was in prime position for an event sweep. Also joining him at the front of the field was Brent Thielke and his Reedy/LRP-powered T4.1 and RC8.2e in the Truck Modified and 1:8 eBuggy classes.

Kevin Lee wins BRCA Winter off-road champs

Last weekend the BRCA Winter off-road championship was run and Kevin Lee sent us this report. After an ok result in 2wd on Saturday, I started Sunday with the Lazer with some confidence, It felt really good from practice and I was right on the pace straight away. I didn’t change anything from the previous week at EIR Belgium except for the tyres being mini pin rather than spikes.

Kyosho Classic Series Rd1 report

This past weekend was Round 1 of the 1/10 Electric Kyosho Classic Series held at The Vegas R/C Raceway in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. Kyosho America Team Manager Joe Pillars, along with Kyosho team drivers Shaun Dunlap, Andy DiBrino and Zack Rogers all made the trip out to Sin City to support the first round of this series. Team Drivers from TLR and Associated also made their way out for Round 1. The entries reached an impressive 115 for this first race making it the largest series entry count at The VRCR.

2012 JConcepts Clash – Announcement

For 2012 the JConcepts Clash is going Indoors to the Flowood, Indoor R/C park in Flowood, Mississippi on the weekend of September 21-23, 2012. A large building and track operated by super promoter Bubba Barham equals big-time Clash action. The 6th annual event will take place on a newly built indoor race course at the Flowood R/C park and will be specifically built for this annual event. With the uniqueness of the Clash, special considerations are always made to the layout, making it both electric and nitro friendly; rest assured your vehicle of choice will be tested. A 125’x100’ Indoor track is easily among the largest in the world and contains one of the best indoor racing surfaces in existence. Be prepared for a well run race courtesy of the JConcepts Events crew and a famous race director who will be named at a later date.
