Tironi takes Italian EFRA GP win

The finals from the 1/10th scale EFRA GP, held this weekend in Gubbio Italy, have been run and it was Francesco Tironi, coming from 4th on the grid that took the win. The Italian Sirio driver, had been quick all event and was able to show his pace when it mattered, taking the win by over a lap from pole man Jilles Groskamp, the front pairing building up a substantial advantage over the rest of the field with Daniele Ielasi taking the final step of the podium in 3rd, 4 laps back on 2nd place, while 4th placed Martin Christiansen was another 5 laps back.

Groskamp heads qualifying in Gubbio

We received a small report from the 1/10th scale EFRA GP that is being run this weekend in Gubbio, Italy. Saturday was scheduled to have 2 rounds of controlled practice followed by four rounds of qualification, however rain interrupted the racing, and saw the track get dry only after the first round of qualification. With the final heat of today also stopped because of the rain, it was Dutch Sirio racer Jilles Groskamp that is currently on pole position, ahead of Mugen racer Giuseppe D’Angelo in 2nd and current European Champion Dario Balestri in 3rd. Tomorrow morning will see two more rounds of qualifications run followed by the mains and we hope to bring you the results as we get them.

ETS Andernach – Hara confirmed

ETS Andernach - Hara confirmed

The organisers of the Much More backed European Touring Series, which sees its final round of the 07/08 series take place in Andernach Germany, have confirmed that former World Champion and 2008 Reedy Race winner Atsushi Hara will be coming to round 4 on the 27th – 29th of June. The Japanese racer will be joining other confirmed entrants, Marc Rheinard, Jilles Groskamp, Paul LeMieux, Hupo Honigl and many more.

Elliot Harper wins Euros Warmup

The warm up race for this years Electric touring car European Championship was run last weekend at the host track in Vila Real, Spain and there were 40 racers in attendance, with some international racers in attendance. Qualifying for the race saw young UK rising star Elliot Harper, driving his Xray, take pole position ahead of current UK National Champion Chris Grainger in 2nd for Yokomo, while Spanish racer Toni Mateo in 3rd. The finals saw complete dominance by Harper who won all 3 legs of the A-main to take the overall win ahead of the Spanish pairing of Toni Mateo and Marc Esbri Vilar in 2nd and 3rd.

Manuel Henriet wins Belgian Nats Rd3

Round 3 of the Belgian Nationals took place at the tight and technical Houthalen track in dry and sunny conditions. The T1 class qualification went the way of Kyosho driver Marten Kempeneers who ended up ahead of Xray drivers Jerome Renaux, Jonathan Sanza and Steve Lambrech, while in the T2 class it was another Xray, that of Cedric Gils that took the pole position. The start of the T1 final went the way of Yerna Hugues that took the lead for the first 5 minutes, but problems dropped him down the order. This left Kempeneers in the lead which he held on to until the final 5 minutes when a lack of tires meant he was passed by Serpent driver Manuel Henriet who took the win, while Kempeneers held onto 2nd ahead of Stephane Roufosee in 3rd. The T2 class went the way of the pole man Cedric Gils who won ahead of fellow Xray drivers Renaud Gysembergh and Vazza Donato.

2009 Snowbird Nationals are Official

Planning well in advance, the organisers of the Snowbirds were in contact to tell us that the 2009 event is happening and will once more take place at the Radisson Resort in Orlando Florida.

I am very excited to announce that we have signed with the Radisson Resort once again for the 2009 Snowbird Nationals. The World’s largest RC race returns to Orlando! The room block is set, so start making those hotel reservations now! As a special Thank you from the Radisson – anyone that reserves their room in the month of June will get a FREE upgrade to a deluxe room (a $10 a night savings!). I am also excited to announce we were able to get the hotel rates the same as in 2008, with the 10 percent discount again if you stay five nights or more. Our schedule will be similar to past years, with practice Tuesday and Wednesday, with racing Thursday through Sunday. Saturday will once again be ‘Bump N’ Run’ day. Recio wins Buenos Aires Championships

Recio wins Buenos Aires Metropolitan Champs

We recieved a brief report from the 3rd round of the 1/8th scale Metropolitan Championship that took place last weekend at the Hernan Matticoli track in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The weather was good and despite the sun being out it was a bit cold. Qualifying saw Kyosho racer Sebastián Recio take the pole position from Juan Pablo Golobic in 2nd and it was Recio that took the win in the final, crossing the flag at the end of the 40 minute final 2 laps up on Gabriel Ianaca in 2nd while Hernán Lebenbaun took 3rd spot. This was the final round of the tracks Opening Championship and it was Sebastián Recio that walked away with the title.

Eric Dankel wins German South Rd5

The 5th round of the Southern Germany regional qualifiers were run last weekend under sunny skies at the Amberg track. Qualifying for 1/8th scale saw Shepherd driver Eric Dankel claim the pole position from the Mugen pairing of Philip Eberle and Armin Baier. The 30 minute final saw Dankel jump straight into the lead and by the 5 minute mark he had a 1 lap lead from where he could control to race to take the win ahead of Eberle and Baier in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
