Spanish 1/8th scale Rd2

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale National Championship take place at the fast new Valladolid track, 2 hours north west of Madrid. In the main final, round 1 winner and current National Champion, Oscar Cabezas was bumped into which dropped him back to last which meant he had to put on a recovery drive, which he duly did, working his way back up to the front of the field. Mugen racer Josue Artiles took the race win after a steady drive just ahead of Juanito Hidalgo, driving for Motonica, while Serpent racer Cabezas ended the race in 3rd position, only 1 lap behind the leaders.

Nicolas Guillot wins Rd3 of French 1/8th Nats

Last weekend in the South France, saw the 3rd round of the French National 1/8th scale Championships take place at the Beaumont-Monteux track. In qualifying for the Elite class it was round 1 winner Nicolas Guillot that took the top qualifying spot ahead of round 2 winner Stephane Bouche, both racing for Mugen.

In the main final Guillot could easily pull away after an accident in the first corner cost his Championship rival Bouche 5 minutes as he had to replace his exhaust system. Guillot was unchallanged at the front and took the win, while behind him it was Kyosho racer Adrien Siegfried that took the 2nd spot ahead of local Kyosho racer Jerome Papaconstantinos who was gifted the position after previous 3rd placed man Anthony Abisset, driving for Serpent, ran into troubles near the end of the race. In the National class it was Mugen racer Yoann Coelho that took the win, in front of 2nd placed Frederic Ragaru driving for Kyosho while 3rd place fell to another Mugen, that of Jeremy Becht.

German South Rd2

Following on from his win in the 1st round of the Southern German regionals, and his podium spot at last months Swiss GP, Robert Pietsch was once again in top form taking the win at the 2nd round of the regional championships, held last weekend in Türkheim. The Shepherd Velox driver claimed the TQ spot after 6 rounds of qualifying on his way to setting a new track record, while Andreas Hammerl, driving for Kyosho, lined up 2nd followed by Euro-B Vice champion Eric Dankel in 3rd. In the final Robert could defend his first place from the start with Hammerl right behind him until after the first round of pitstops when Andreas had to retire, gifting Mugen racer Eric Dankel the 2nd place which is how it stayed with Serpent-driver Philip Eberle claiming the final podium spot in 3rd.

Daniele Ielasi wins Rd2 Italian Nationals

Daniele Ielasi wins Rd2 Italian Nationals

Last weekend in Italy at the fast Fiorano track, close to the Ferrari test track, the second round of the Italian Nationals took place and in qualifying it was young Serpent racer Andrea Cristiani that took the TQ with Mugen driver, and round 1 winner, Alberto Picco lining up in 2nd with Lamberto Collari in 3rd for Kyosho. The race was an hour long, and so endurance was as important as speed and in the end it was Daniele Ielasi, who had won his semi final to make it into the main, that took the win by 1 lap ahead of Alberto Picco, while pole man Andrea Cristiani finished in 3rd position, 5 laps back, after some pit lane and engine problems but still managed to set the fastest race lap.

Pesenti takes Rd2 of Swiss 1/8th Nats

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Swiss Championship take place in Wallisellen, near Zurich, the same track which held the EC-B 1/8 in the 1998. Our man Mattia Pesenti was in action at the event, as he was in round 1, driving his Novarossi powered Motonica and has provided us with this report.

Xray NT1 & Mugen MTX4 of Beat & Dankel

Xray NT1 of Walti Beat

Yesterday our partners, RC Infos, showed us some close up pictures that they had taken at the EC B’s in Roeselare, of the winning Serpent 720 of Alessio Mazzeo. Today as a follow up they have added 2 more picture sets from the same event, first off showing the Mugen MTX4 of event runner up Erik Dankel, which you can see is also pretty much standard, with only some small optional parts added such as the alu receiver box and alu servo horn. Walti Beat, the 4th placed qualifer and eventual 5th placed finisher, drove the new Xray NT1 (above) and his car was also pretty much standard, albeit nice and neat.

View the Xray NT1 here and the Mugen MTX4 here.

John Ermen wins Rd2 Dutch Nationals

John Ermen wins Rd2 Dutch Nationals

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Dutch 1/8th scale National Championship return to the venue of the first round of the series, Rucphen in the south west of Holland. In a repeat performance from the first round it was John Ermen, driving for Serpent, that took the top spot in qualifying as the only driver to hit 23 laps followed by Rick V for Mugen in 2nd. In the race itself it was a pretty easy run for John until a coming together with slowing team mate Rob Kuijper forced John into the pits to fix his body shell. This allowed Rick V to close the gap and despite some traffic problems for the leader he couldn’t get passed and thats how it stayed with John taking the win by less than a second from Rick V in 2nd and 3rd place going to Rik Veenma.
