XRS Australia Rd1 – Report

After three and a half months Round 1 of XRS Australia is in the books. With the weather forecast uncertain, in the end racers were greeted with 2 days of glorious sunshine. With the crew at SMA having prepared the track with a fresh coat of Boral Surface Coating the grip and consistency was always going to be on point and the lap times and results show it. In the 13.5 class Pete Wong was in a class of his own this weekend. Taking Q1 and Q2 as well as A1 and A2 with a fast and clinical display of driving. However, things were not as relaxed in the hunt for the minor placings with Cristian Silva, Tate Firth and Chris Peat all trading blows for the 2 remaining podium places. Jin Sawada takes Speed King Tour Rd1

After a one year break, the Kazuki Endo produced Speed King Tour re-started at RC Stadium Sodegarura’s outdoor tarmac track in Chiba prefecture last weekend. With the 2020 series cancelled due to Covid-19, the organisers ran the event with measures in place. Unfortunately the weather forecast said that it would be raining from noon on race day so the first qualifying session started early in the morning. After finishing Modified class Q2, the rain started to come down and it was enough to cancel the other races and so the results were based on qualifying. In the modified class, Infinity/Rush driver Jin Sawada made the fastest laps and time in Q2 and his younger brother Shin Sawada took TQ in Q1. Jin’s result was faster than Shin’s so Jin took the opening round of the 2021 Speed King Tour with Rush driver Hayato Ishioka taking third. Kazuma Murai took the win in the Stock class with the best time from Q2, while in the new Super Stock class that uses G-force ESC & motor and Super RC (Radicon) original battery pack with the race motor lent by the organiser, KO Propo’s Yuichi Anahara took the victory using the new KO EX-NEXT. Next round of Speed King Tour will be take place at TM circuit Wakayama outdoor tarmac track in Wakayama prefecture on the 23rd of May.

FSEARA Rd6 Nugget Ranch – Report

Another Strong 80 entry event at the Nugget Ranch raceway for the 6th round of the FSEARA series. One of the bigger size tracks for the series. Saturday’s practice was filled with lots of laps, the weather was cold for this time of the year, but Sunday was even colder. With the wind again a challenging factor just like Rd5 at Coral Spring. It was hard for most racers as the cold front totally came out of nowhere. The high speed and the sudden cold weather made this track unforgiving. Many broke their cars in practice on Saturday. As time went on, many were able to adapt to have enough parts to continue for Sunday’s event. The highlight of the battle for the weekend was for sure in 17.5 TC.

Ralph Burch wins Sedan at Miami Pan American race

The famous Miami Pan American race was held in Homestead, FL this past weekend. What started as a large GT focused race expanded into sedan and 8th scale as well. The Wallace Motorsports team was in attendance for this great event with some of the best competition in the United States. The format for qualifying was top 3 consecutive laps and the mains were broken up into 2 different 30 minute mains versus 1 long 60 minute main. This points system for the mains made it so you had to show up and perform twice. Serpent team driver Bryce Butterfield took TQ for sedan, while Wallace Motorsports team drivers, DJ Apolaro, Ralph Burch, Diatta Collymore, and Brian Thomas were able to qualify 2 through 5 respectfully. When it came time for the mains, A1 was a battle of attrition while most of the top guys ran into issues, Ralph and Diatta were able to hold on to a 3rd and 4th place finish. For Sedan A2, Diatta Collymore led all the way up until the final minute until he finally ran out of tires and lost the lead to Ralph Burch who would go on to win meaning the sedan A overall Final results were Ralph Burch 1st, Diatta Collymore 2nd and Pepito Colon 3rd. A clean sweep for Infinity and a 1 and 2 for Wallace Motorsports.
