Serpent sign Yugo Nagashima

Serpent have announced the signing of Japan’s Yugo Nagashima to their electric on-road team. The former Destiny factory driver is specialised in 1/10th Touring and 1/12th scale racing, having won titles in Japan, Canada and Australia and he will campaign Serpent’s full range of electric chassis at all major events around the globe. Yugo already kicked off his new campaign quite successful with a 5th place in the Modified Touring class at the recent South Korea round of the AOC.

Large Scale Onroad Grandprix – Report

The third Large Scale Onroad Grandprix was held at the MRC REAL80 club in Groningen, The Netherlands last weekend. 48 Touring and four Formula drivers signed in, making for some competitive racing. Friday saw controlled practice, however due to rain it wouldn’t take place but thanks to a drying track later that day the drivers were able to get at least some laps in. Qualifying on Saturday was topped by a nice BBQ and with the ever improving grip and the super-pole race, a first for the REAL80 club, things came along nicely for the highlights on Sunday. In the Touring A-final it was Bernard-Alain Arnaldi who did not give away the first place from start to finish. Arnaldi has been unstoppable this year, winning every race and having scored an extra point in Leipzig and Groningen for taking the top qualifier spot. Even with a 4th and last race to go in Zagreb, Arnaldi has crowned himself winner of the GP Series and this year also as the European Champion.

Alex Dill wins at South German IC Track Champs Rd2

The MRSC Amberg track played host to round 2 of the South German IC Track regionals last weekend. Alex Dill would walk away with the win in the 1/10th 200mm class from John Knight on the 2 spot. Matthias Bareuther came in 3rd to round out the podium result.

Rico Kröber wins German 1/10th 200mm Regionals Rd3

Last weekend the 3rd round of the North German 1/10th 200mm Nitro regionals was hosted by the AMC Hildesheim e.V. last weekend. With two days of sunshine all drivers could enjoy plenty of track time on a well prepared track, however low traction and high tyre wear made it a challenge for everybody to find a good balance. In the 1/10th 200mm class it was Shepherd’s Rico Kröber who took TQ after four rounds of qualification in front of Tim Benson (Serpent) and Jakub Rozycki (Xray).

Toto Ebukuro takes JMRCA 1/12th scale Modified title

The Japanese JMRCA 1/12th scale National Championships were held at the world-famous Yatabe Arena this past weekend. Run in Modified and Stock classes it was Yokomo’s Toto Ebukuro with the overall win in the Modified category from Toshi Yanagisawa with the vice-championship. Destiny’s Kazuki Yamashita would come in 3rd to round out the podium.

Picco & Tironi win at Italian ACI Sport IC Track Champs

Round 2 of the ACI Sport Italian IC Track Championship was held at the Mini Autodromo Jody Scheckter track in Fiorano last weekend. In the 1/8th IC Track class it was Infinity’s Alberto Picco with the win from TQ holder, ARC’s Jonathan Gandin in 2nd. Shepherd’s Marco Vanni came in 3rd to round out the podium. In 1/10th 200mm Touring it was Infinity’s Francesco Tironi with the TQ and win from Francesco Pierella (Capricorn) in 2nd and Giuseppe Occhipinti (Serpent) in 3rd.

RC-Lemans Series Rd2 – Report

Following a small 7-weeks break the RC-Lemans Series held round 2 of their 2019 season at the Belgian Genk track last weekend. With rain at the opening round things would change dramatically as sunny and hot weather was pleasing the drivers. Round 2 attracted new drivers for the LMP2 class and both the fast LMP1 and stock LMP2 class would be held with nearly full A and B mains which added to the great racing action. Thomas Stenger, reigning German 1/12th Stock champion, took the overall TQ with a new lap and track record in LMP2 and in front of reigning LMP2 champ, Rainer Schad. Mathijs Hermens came in 3rd from Michel van der Velden and Michael Holla. Over in LMP1 it was Kai Altmann with wins in all three qualifiers for the overall TQ from Tobias Weist in 2nd. Round 1 winner, Timo Schad came in 3rd to round out the qualifying top 3. Reigning LMP1 champion Tim Altmann came in 4th after only making the B-main at the opening round. Andreas Dick would complete the top 5 for now.

Marka Racing Trophy Rd2 – Report

The second round of this year’s Marka Racing Trophy was held at the La Valletta track in Varese, Italy. In Touring Stock 13.5 Luca Pelagotti (Schumacher) had to fend off the attacks of Nik Di Palma (Awesomatix) in the opening A-main final. Fascinating and with great sportsmanship it was Pelagotti with the 2nd place as Di Palma was able to pass him ultimately. In the second final Pelagotti managed to maintain the 1st position until the end while behind him it was Davide Gianuzzi (Awesomatix) who recovered from the 4th starting position. The third final saw a masterpiece of Gianuzzi, who started very well to gain one position after another until he got close to Pelagotti and ultimately got past. When the dust had settled Gianuzzi took the overall win from Pelagotti in 2nd and Di Palma in 3rd position.
