Kurzbuch setting practice pace at 200mm Worlds

Simon Kurzbuch is setting the practice pace at the 200mm Nitro Touring Car World Championships in Gubbio, Italy.  The reigning 1:8 World Champion sits top of the time sheets from pre-event favourite Dario Balestri with 8 of the 12 rounds of free practice at the Miniautodromo Internazionale M.Rosati track completed.  A driver with limited experience in the 1:10 class, Kurzbuch took his Shepherd to the fastest three consecutive laps in this morning’s opening practice bettering the fastest time of the first official practice day set yesterday evening by Balestri’s Capricorn.  With no clear advantage holder so far in terms of outright pace, the top 6 so far made of drivers representing 6 different manufacturers, the separation is only 0.156 of a second.  For reigning champion Alexander Hagberg his title defence has not started out well with the Xray driver finding himself 56th fastest of the 120 starters.

DJ Apolaro to run Capricorn tyres

DJ Apolaro to run Capricorn tyres

Italian company Capricorn have announced that US frontrunner, DJ Apolaro will be using the company’s line of tyres from now on. Already part of the US Capricorn team for many years, successfully campaigning their nitro kits, the former Matrix driver will now also rely on Capricorn rubber and he has the following to say about the deal:

First let me say that I am very grateful for all the support from Matrix and Cristian Boni over the years. He has a great product and I made a great friend in him. He has real passion for the sport and knows how to have a good time at the track.

I must say that I am really looking forward to racing with the Capricorn tires. Having been a Capricorn driver over the years it just feels good to complete the circle. Patrizio has put a lot of thought and effort into making a great rim for the highest level of performance. I am excited to have my first event at the upcoming GLC! Please feel free to come by and ask any questions.

BRCA 1/8 Circuit National Rd 6 – Report

The fourth round of the BRCA National series took place last weekend at the Wombwell Model Car Club, a circuit which the national championship visits twice this year, a challenging track with a very technical infield and long straight away. Saturday practice was topped by Tim Wood setting the pace, with Mark Green absent on the Saturday, it looked as if Tim would have the advantage. Heading into Sunday it appeared luck would not be on Wood’s side as Mark Green shot straight to the top of the qualifying without any practice run on either Saturday or Sunday.
