Belgian Nitro On-road Championship Rd2 – Report

Belgian Nitro On-road Championship Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the Belgian Nitro On-road Championship was held at the track of the Mac de Baanbrekers club in Rucphen this past weekend. The nice weather made for a great weekend of racing as did the team of the organising club who did a perfect job. In the 1/8th class it was Nico Vandewynckel (Serpent) who was able to take the win in the 30-minute final from top qualifier Gunther van Staey who was by far the fastest driver on the track but he ended a lap down in the final as he was not able to make up the time he lost during a pit stop for tyres. In 3rd place Jeroen Evers drove a very consistent race to take the final podium spot.

Japanese 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals – Report

The Japanese 1/8th On-road National Championship was held last weekend at the Keitune Circuit, home of the 2013 World Championships. A total of 41 drivers attended including guest drivers from Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, and Thailand. Among them where 9-time World Champion Lamberto Collari as well as Worlds finalist Carmine Raiola. Heavy rain on Friday made for only limited track time and this especially hampered the foreign drivers. Thankfully the weather was good for the remainder of the weekend, allowing for six dry qualifying rounds to be run. Defending champion Shinnosuke Yokoyama (Mugen) took TQ with current FEMCA Champion Syoki Takahata (KM) taking 2nd, and Michihiro Takayasu (Hot Bodies) coming in 3rd.

Essex Summer Series 2015 – Announcement

Essex Summer Series 2015 – Announcement

The EWS events team, the organisers of the  successful Essex Winter Series and International Carpet Challenge events in the UK, have announced that their outdoor Essex Summer Series race will return in 2015. Last year, the ESS took their race format and style of event to an outdoor track for the first time, and the team have again secured the use of the Adur Model Car Club facility on the South Coast, to stage the event again this year. The event, which will take place on the weekend of August 15th and 16th, will remain largely unchanged from last year. The event will start mid-morning on Saturday, meaning drivers do not need to travel on Friday evening to help reduce costs. A large marquee will again be used for pitting to create the typical EWS Events atmosphere. The event will consist of controlled practice, qualifying and three-leg finals, with classes for Modified and Super Stock 13.5 Blinky Touring Car, both running on the Sorex 32RY control tire, and new for 2015, a Formula 1 class running to the widely accepted ETS rules. All abilities of driver are welcomed, with the organisers also hoping to be able to announce a number of star international visitors to the event for this year to battle against the best in the UK. Entries are now open here, where further information is also available.

Schumacher BTCC Rd2 – Report

Schumacher BTCC Rd2 – Report

The superb and very fast venue of Mendip was the host of the second round of the Schumacher BTCC this past weekend. Many drivers turned up on Saturday for some track time with the weather being dry but cool all day. Come Sunday the weather changed with the track being wet with a few puddles on it. The organisers decided that there would be open practice running until 10AM to give the track plenty of chance to dry out. Also due to the entry being somewhat lower than usual, mainly due to many of the regular drivers attending the ETS race on the same weekend, it was decided that six rounds of qualifying and single mains would be held. The format therefore was three from six rounds to count on round by round qualifying. This was hugely welcomed by the racers who were in attendance, making for plenty of track time before the National in a couple of weeks. After the qualifiers and the single mains Kyle Branson came out successful in the Modified class from Chris Grainger and Stefan Chodzynski.

1/8th On-road European Championship B – Report

1/8th On-road European Championship B – Report

This past weekend the 1/8th Nitro On-road European Championships B were held at the RME Lamberto Collari track in Cassino, Italy which is known for its somewhat old school layout and famous for its hospitality and restaurant. On this track also live steaming was first introduced to RC some years ago by a gentleman called Gianluca Decina and long before EFRA started their own service. Working in ICT and very handy with video Gianluca was the first to offer streaming around the year 2006 to 2008 during one of the EFRA events. Unfortunately this year’s event did not attract a lot of entries. It seems that drivers are making choices nowadays and in this case the majority made the choice to visit the EC-A later in the year instead of the B championship.
