D'Hondt & Sanza win at Belgian Nitro On-road opener

This past Sunday the first round of the Belgian 1/8th and 1/10th Nitro On-road Championship was held at the track of Bierset. The qualifiers and finals were run in difficult track conditions due to rain in the morning and early afternoon. In the 1/8th class Robin D’Hondt took the pole with his new BMT. He confirmed his good performance in the dry final where he found himself in last position at first, following a crash in the first corner. With smooth but fast driving Robin moved his way up into the lead again before the first pit stop and he then maintained a high pace to take the win. Local young talent Augustin Mejor (Mugen), in his first year in the 1/8th class, demonstrated his skills and ended the main final in 2nd position. Alberta Touring Series Rd2 – Report

Alberta Touring Series Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the Alberta Touring Series was held in Edmonton, Alberta. The NASCAR club hosted a great event with 121 entries across six classes. The focus of this new series would be to have fun, keep rules to a minimum, save budget conscious racers some money with less travel and create a friendly provincial rivalry so the format for the weekend would be three qualifiers and triple mains for everyone. In the Touring Car Modified Class, TQ Wayne Mah (Awesomatix) would win all three of his mains in dominating fashion over Steve Soon (Serpent), with Tommy Tam (Yokomo) taking 3rd.

FBA Belgian Touring Car Championship Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the FBA Belgian Championship was held in Zarren at the RTI/Lovan club who hosted the race on a big indoor track. In the Touring Car Modified class it was last year’s winner Olivier Bultynck who took TQ in front of up and coming Mitchel Van Es. Nick Joosens grabbed the 3rd spot on the grid while a not-so-happy Nicolas Delisé ended the qualifiers on the 4th spot. The opening A-main saw Olivier having a splendid start and while the remainder of the field tried to follow him, a fight arose between Nick and Mitchel that ended in a coming together which allowed Nicolas to slip into 2nd place. Meanwhile Olivier was up and away and he took the win by almost 6 seconds. Further down the field Nicolas was under big pressure from Nick but managed to take 2nd place.

Mile High Indoor Championships – Report

Mile High Indoor Championships – Report

5280 Raceway in Denver, Colorado hosted the 2015 Mile High Indoor Champs. While the weather outside was cold and slushy, the action on the track was scorching hot with some very close action across most classes during an event featuring Formula, World GT, Touring Car and 1/12th scale classes. The “Mile High” kicked off with open practice most of the day on Thursday followed by the regularly scheduled club race that evening, which provided those who travelled to the event early a taste of racing action before the actual event began. Most drivers found solid pace by the end of controlled practice on Friday and lap times began to fall as qualifying began Saturday morning on this fast and fairly open layout, designed to encourage passing and plentiful on-track action. In Modified Touring Car Paul Lemieux snatched the TQ spot by just over 2 tenths from Kevin Hebert. Others rounding out the TQ honors were local club president Mario Ficco in Formula, Brian Wynn in WGT, Kyle Klingforth in 13.5 Touring Car, Bill Sydor in 17.5 Touring Car, Kevin Hebert in Modified 1/12th scale and Mitch Witteman in both 13.5 and 17.5 1/12th scale.
