The 4th round of the Swiss 1/8th on–road championship was held at the Sebastian Buemi track of the Mini Racing Cars Aigle & Lausanne club. After qualifying, Simon Kurzbuch (Shepherd/Novarossi) took the TQ from by Mattia Pesenti (Xray/Picco) and Luca Martinelli (Mugen/OS).

Oli Meggitt and the Essex Winter Series team have announced that they will be taking their style of racing event to the next level, by holding an outdoor race meeting later this Summer. The Essex Summer Series will be a one-off meeting, to be held on the weekend of the 13th and 14th September 2014 at the Brooklands Raceway, near Ashford, Kent, in the South East of the UK. Classes for the event will be Open Modified, and the debut in the UK of a new Super Stock class – 13.5 “Blinky” zero timing – which is already extremely popular across Europe, Asia and the United States. Any BRCA approved 13.5 turn motor can be used, with any zero-timing “blinky” speed controller and a maximum gear ratio of 4.0. Controlled tyres for both classes will be the popular Sorex 32 RY. This past weekend the 4th round of the Dutch 1/8th scale nationals was hosted by the friendly people of the Model Auto Race Genk club in Belgium. The weekend was characterised by the weather. Saturday’s practice was pretty much washed away by the rain with only two dry hours at the very end of the practice. Sunday started dry, but after the 3 qualifying rounds it started to rain again.

The 4th round of the French 200mm nitro on-road championship was held at the Lentilly track near Lyon. In the National class, it was Maxime Legay who took the TQ position in front of Philippe Martineau and Stephane Campourcy while in the Elite class, Leo Arnold had a tremendous third qualifying round to take the overall TQ. Basile Concialdi came in 2nd and Quentin Leroux held the 3rd spot.

The 4th round of the French nitro on-road nationals took place under mixed weather conditions. All qualifiers would be run in dry track conditions and in the 1/8 Elite class it was Anthony Abisset (Serpent) who took TQ in front of Benjamin Brasset (Serpent) and Arnaud Mathieu (Capricorn). In the National class 14 years old Gaetan “Iceman” Nousse (Serpent) outperformed Ludovic Cesar (Serpent) and Benjamin Coulaud (Capricorn).

Uwe Baldes, Melvin Diekmann, Marco Muscara and Stefan Schumann achieved class wins at round 3 of the Nitro-West-Masters which was held at the Rhein-Ahr-Motodrom in Bad Breisig. With 42 entries and finally 41 competitors attending the number of participants was slightly lower than at the previous rounds in Oberhausen (67) and Dueren (55). But that did not derogate the thrilling racing action and the great atmosphere though. The conditions on Sunday were perfect nearly till the end before some slight rain hit the track during the last ten minutes of the 1/8th main race.

Round 4 of the BRCA touring car nationals took place at the fast and flowing Cotswold track located on Kemble airfield, UK. The first three rounds have seen three different winners which meant heading into round four the championship is still wide open. Saturday morning the drivers were greeted with very wet conditions but fortunately it would dry for round one of qualification. Olly Jefferies was able to keep himself close to the top of the time sheets in all of the qualifying rounds to eventually take pole positions after winning three out of five qualifying rounds with Chris Grainger taking second and Elliott Harper in third. Olly would also set the fastest lap and five minute time of the weekend.

This past weekend the 2014 Japanese 1/12th nationals were held at a purpose-built track in Fukuoka. The Modified class had Naoto Matsukura taking the TQ for the finals and it looked like the multi-national champion would make its 8th 1/12th national title in a row, but runner-up after the qualifiers, Ishioka Hayato denied him the title to take the 2014 championship. Hideo Kitazawa came in 2nd while Naoto Matsukura ultimately had to settle for 3rd. The Stock class had Takayuki Kuwata taking the TQ and win from Naoki Kuroda and Yamaguchi Tokusu.
