Völker & Ingwethvongsa win at TITC 2014

The 2014 Thailand International Touring Car Championship took place last weekend at the Huge RC Project track in Bangkok. In the Modified Touring Cat class Yokomo’s Naoto Matsukura and Ronald Völker where in a close battle for TQ while their Thai teammates Meen V. and Singpute where hot on their heels. Also in the mix was Xray’s Alexander Hagberg. At the end of the five qualifying rounds Naoto took a very close TQ from Ronald while Chavit and Meen ended tie on points in third and fourth. The Open Brushless class had Thainland’s Araya Ingwethvongsa taking the TQ from Mongkolpan Lomrose and Hong Kong based Stick King. Trin Tanongsakchaikul and Andreas Myrberg completed the top 5 result.

Hot Race Tires sign Mirko Salemi

Hot Race Tires have announced the addition of former European B Champion Mirko Salemi to their official factory team. The Italian will be using Hot Race Tires products throughout the 2014 season, in which he will take part in the European Championships, select rounds of the ENS series and of course the Italian National Championships.

Marco Vanni joins Team Shepherd

Shepherd announce that top Italian racer Marco Vanni joins their team for the 2014 season. After finishing second at the Trofeo Picco in Fiorano at the end of last year and finishing in 5th place at the recent Winter Nationals in Fort Myers, Marco decided to run the 2014 season with the German-based squad. Planning to race the full Italian championship, the European championship, two ENS races and some selected international races he will be a great ambassador for Shepherd. Marco had the following to say:

I’m very happy to join this great team with their succesful high quality products. Thanks to Team Shepherd for this great opportunity especially to Armin who arranged everything. I’m already very happy with the car and really looking forward to the upcoming races.

SRC Nitro Race 2014 – Announcement

Sprint RC announce the 3-race SRC Nitro Race series for 1/8th and 1/10th nitro on-road classes. Starting in Bologna on the weekend of the 4th of May, the series is aimed towards drivers of all skill levels as the goal of the organisers is to bring club and pro level drivers together in order to make for a fun, entertaining and educative event for all. The rules are very basic with free tyre choice for all but it is mandatory to run SRC bodies both in the 1/8th and 1/10th class. More information along with the dates can be found here.

Essex Winter Series Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend. As this was the penultimate round of the championship, there were chances that both the Stock and Pro Stock overall titles could be decided at the event. But in the Muchmore-backed Modified class, this wasn’t the case, with Elliott Harper missing two early rounds of the season and a variety of different podium finishers in the four events so far. It was Elliott Harper who topped the timesheets in the first round of qualifying, taking his Durango to a time five seconds quicker than Schumacher’s Chris Grainger, who was in turn just a few tenths ahead of his teammate Matthew White. Round two saw Elliott again quickest, this time three seconds ahead of Kyle Branson’s Capricorn and five seconds up on the Schumacher of Paul Pinkney. Elliott secured the overall TQ position by also topping round three, five seconds ahead of Xray’s James Hart, with Paul again taking third. Elliott made it a clean sweep of qualifying by winning the final round also, with Chris Grainger back up to second and James in third. This left Chris second overall, James third and Paul in fourth.

Alex wins at Malaysian nitro on-road series Rd1

KM Racing driver Alex has won the first round of the Malaysian national nitro on-road series that took place at the KLIRCC track in Malaysia. After taking TQ Alex won the 45 minute final one lap ahead of Nick Chong. Cik Kree completed the top 3 some further six laps down.

Ng & Phua win at RCMC national series Rd2

The 2nd round of the RCMC national series in Singapore took place at the RCMC East Coast Raceway. In the 1/8th Open class Serpent driver Alvin Ng took the win from Khamil and Erwin Luhur. In the 1/8th GT class Serpent driver Pason Phue was able to take the win from Yubin and Anthony Yeo.

Francesco Martini re-signs with Xray

Xray announce that multiple Italian champion Francesco Martini has re-signed with the Slovakian company for the 2014 season. Francesco is an extremely dedicated touring car racer and an important R&D member of the T4 platform. Francesco says:

During these past years I have got the chance to work in close contact with Juraj and Martin; their expertise and contagious passion led me to love this hobby more and more, and to chase perfection as the only possible result. Only those who know them can understand how strong and contagious their desire to always improve is. Martin’s further involvement in the touring project allowed the work team to get even more tight-knit. And now everyone works hard but with a smile on his face. Of course, also the development of the models has benefited of this mood. I think that our highest aim is to continue on this path.
