Kyle Branson wins BRCA 1/8th Rd6

BRCA1_8onroadRd6

Round 6 of the BRCA 1/8th Championship was the second visit to the Brooklands circuit in Kent. The track looked in excellent condition with after remedial works to remove bumps on the infield straight, but the bumps at the end of the straight remained but did not cause any major problems. The weather forecast was for a bright Saturday, with showers Sunday morning and then a dry day thereafter. Saturday allowed drivers to find the ideal setup and strategy for the 5 mins qualifying. With almost every engine manufacture now designing engines to 7mins EFRA qualifying requirements makes it increasingly impossible for UK drivers to complete 5 mins and therefore a stop for fuel on fast circuits is now generally the case by the top drivers.

Pietsch completes dream debut for MTX-5

Pietsch completes dream debut for MTX-5

Robert Pietsch has given Mugen’s new MTX-5 the dream debut by convincingly winning the 200mm European Championships in Ettlingen Germany. The race was only ever between Pietsch and Dirk Wischnewski but a flame out during the former Champion’s tyre stop in the middle of the race effectively put the Xray driver a lap down on his fellow countryman.  After a long battle with Biagio Spataro, who retired after fuel got into his electrics, Finland’s Teemu Leino completed the podium.

BrazilianChampsRd5

Sandro Martines has won the 5th round of St. André Championship in Brazil. Starting in the middle of grid and struggling with a rich setting of his engine during the first minutes of the race, the first pit stop and engine re-tune brought a change as KM H-K1 driver Sandro took the lead and won the 30 minutes final one lap ahead of Leandro Fares (Capricorn) and team mate Anderson Becheli (KM H-K1) who was leading the race until he ran out of fuel, ending his chances of winning and missing the second place by a few seconds. Paulo Cesar (KM H-K1) finished 4th.

European 200mm title up for grabs in Ettlingen

In the build up to all major championships the person to beat is the defending champion but at this year’s 1:10 Nitro Touring European Championships this is not the case with last year’s title winner Martin Christensen missing from the 121 car field here in Ettlingen, Germany.  The eighth running of the EFRA event, three of the five 200mm Euro champions are present with Team Xray’s Dirk Wischnewski, the man who lost his title to Christensen in Sweden 12-months ago, and fellow German Robert Pietsch the men everyone else is trying to match as the third day of free practice is completed.
