Martin Lissau wins Danish National opener

Last weekend the first round of the Danish Nationals took place at the Odense RC MiniRace track. Martin Lissau was present to compete the first time with the Shepherd Velox V10 and with limited possibilities for practice because of the rain he went into the first round of qualifying and set a new track record on his way to clocking the fastest time. Right after, the rain arrived again and the rest of the qualifying was canceled. The finals were scheduled for Sunday and finally the track was dry. Right from the start of the final Martin pulled away and never looked back, running flawlessly for 30 minutes to cross the line in first position ahead of Claus Rygeskov in 2nd and Martin Hansen in 3rd. In the 1/8th scale class Henrik Christensen had the lead from the start to the end to take victory in front of fellow Shepherd racer Hans Andersen in 2nd, with John Jessen 3rd.

Glyn Beal wins BRCA Sports GT Rd2

Glyn Beal sent us a report on the second round of the BRCA sports GT championship held at the Cotswold track last weekend. On Saturday morning the weather was dry and sunny, but didn’t get much practice due to painting and cutting out new GTP body shells. A big thanks to Keith from Kamtec for producing this shell in a short period of time. First impressions were that everyone liked this new shell because it made car easy to set up and quicker. When I finally got on the track in the afternoon, the car was very quick from the start and both Lee Chapman and I both set the same best lap times which was a 16.6. I decided not to do much more practice as the car was going great and then of course the rain came.

Luis Cortez takes the win at 2nd Portuguese Regional

Last Sunday the second round of the Portuguese Regionals was held in the Circuito Automodelismo do Funchal. Mugen driver Luis Cortez, took the pole and another perfect win, the temperature variations having a big influence in the outcome of this event with a lot of drivers having engine trouble all weekend, getting the engine perfectly tuned was a challenge. In the main final Team Magic driver Fabio Barros drove a smart race managing the second place of the podium, while Veteran Serpent driver Alcino Camacho, after a difficult year, returned to the podium in 3rd place showing us that experience and know how is far more important than a top engine or chassis.

Thanks to Paulo Rodrigues for the report.
