Belgian SCT Cup 2014 Rd3 – Report

Belgian SCT Cup 2014 Rd3 – Report

The 3rd round of the Belgian SCT Cup was hosted by the Belgium Power Team based in Merchtem. The club is a regular host of the Cup and always good for a great time. This year the track had been changed to a more technical layout with a pretty challenging and big off-camber turn. Philippe Hautecoeur (Team Associated) kept the momentum of his overall win in previous race and took the first Pro2 qualifier with a 3 seconds margin on Nicolas Evens (TLR). Julian André in 3rd is struggled with his car on the astroturf surface. The second leg saw Nicolas posting the fastest time ahead of Philippe and Edouard-Benoît Michez (Team Associated). Philippe then went on to take the final leg to take the overall TQ spot, ahead of Nicolas and Julian.

Serpent Spyder 2WD Short Course Truck kit

Serpent Spyder 2WD Short Course Truck kit

Serpent introduce their first ever Short Course Truck in the form of the Spyder 2WD SCT. Based off the popular Spyder SRX2 line of buggies, the truck shares many design ideas such as the unique front steering block design, the adjustable rear differential height and the 3-pad slipper clutch. Based on a long wheelbase composite chassis the truck is a purpose-designed rear motor vehicle, ideal for all low to medium traction tracks. Long travel 12mm big bore threaded aluminium shock absorbers and race geometry suspension arms make for maximum on-track performance while polycarbonate inserts in the wide nerf bars keep as much air as possibly away from the inside of the bodyshell to reduce the unwanted parachute effect SC trucks are known for during jumping. Other features include suspension block inserts for the C-hubs and rear A-arm holders and uprights, spring steel turnbuckles and wheel axles, a limited slip ball differential and an aerodynamic SCT body with side damps. The truck is set for a mid-June release.

They are a direct upgrade for the Associated parts and are made of black anodised 7075 aluminium and have a wide base to prevent bent shock mount screws. The standoffs are sold as pairs and come including an Avid mini decal sheet. Also new are updated Avert aluminium spring cups for the TLR22 line of buggies and trucks. Offering heavy machining, the parts weight in at under a gram per piece while an angled slot design keeps the cups from popping off in a crash.
