Frank Root wins Pro2 at Race for the Cure

Losi’s Frank Root attended the Inaugural Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this past Saturday at SDRC Raceway. The track had great grip, and a fun, technical layout. The entry count was very strong at 123 and a great day of racing was had by all. In addition to the racing, there was a fantastic raffle, activities for kids, and a bake sale for additional donations. 100% of the race entries went directly to the Susan G. Komen foundation, an amazing total of $7,200.  In the Pro2 (Modified SC) class Frank’s Losi XXX-SCT equipped with the TLR Tuned Kit was great all day. Frank chose JConcepts Gold Bar Codes for optimal traction and was on point again in qualifying. Frank would run the fastest time in each of the three rounds of qualifying, taking the TQ. The single 5-minute main started with a brief challenge from 2nd place, but Frank would soon pull away leaving the rest of the field to battle for 2nd place. Frank would eventually lap the field and cruise home to a dominating win.

AKA R-Line SC pre-mount series

AKA have announced the addition of their Short Course tires to their R-Line pre-mount series. Short Course R-Line pre-mounts feature AKA’s Cyclone wheel made from AKA’s proprietary blend of high impact nylon. Inside the tire is AKA’s industry leading soft red insert designed to decrease the lateral deflection of the tire while at the same time increasing the vertical impact absorption therefore providing better handling in the bumps. The lateral grooves allow the insert to flex vertically and absorb large impacts while still maintaining lateral stability and overall durability that AKA inserts are known for. The result is a more predictable handling car in the harshest track conditions. Last but not least SC R-Line pre-mounts are all hand assembled using AKA’s best selling tire glue to ensure a perfect bond every time. R-Line pre-mounts are available to fit most popular SC truck brands including Traxxas, Associated, Kyosho, Losi and HPI.

First Look – X-Factory SCX-60CF

While attending the final round of the Short Course Showdown Nationwide tour at Mike’s hobby shop in Dallas, Texas, X-Factory driver Clayton Easley showed us the very first run of the company’s new SCX-60. Expected to be available in weeks rather than months the new chassis features a mid motor configuration and a very narrow chassis which they believe to be large benefit, for clearance reasons and to reduce the parachuting effect on big jumps. The version we saw was sporting a saddle pack mounted at the very rear of the car and due to the cars top decks and rear brace it is very stiff. While the car Clayton was using sported an aftermarket bodyshell, the SCX-60 will come with its own design shell when it becomes available.

A powerful new look that combines the winning combination of a 10 spoke design, bead-lock appearance and center lug nut detail with a hint of inspiration from yesteryear. JConcepts Illuzion Hi-Flow SCT body

JConcepts have released the Illuzion Hi-Flow SCT body. Sporting a fashionable racing look, the body panel attack angles and even greater air escape packages give the Hi-Flow class leading performance. The air escape package consists of user friendly trim-out areas which have been strategically placed to ensure a clean race-able look that minimizes the trouble-some parachute effect. The large Hi-Flow areas are depressed into the body which allows the user to simply score the bottom pocket and pop-out for instant results. The hood-scoop, used predominantly as an under / over air release feature, blends beautifully into the sculpted extra-clearance fenders while releasing the front end of inner pressure. The top, rear, fender corners have been wedged reducing dead space, allowing more pass-through area minimizing unwanted air collection. The roof of the body has been dramatically ‘rock-a-bye’ shaped to promote a continuous roll in the event of roof crashes while performance enhanced number and name plates provide straight-line stability.
