KM Racing K8 1/8th on-road kit

KM Racing have released first renderings of their upcoming 1/8th nitro on-road car, called the K8. Currently in development stages the competition car will feature a super low centre of gravity with only 25mm high top deck, a chassis-mounted steering servo, optional wire or standard front anti-roll bar, upper deck front ‘swing’ and rear ‘wast twister’ system, and a side-mounted receiver battery to adjust left-to-right chassis balance better. Also incorporated into the construction, that makes use of 7075-T6 aluminium, is a centre weight system for the chassis bottom for a simple adjustment of the overall weight and weight distribution.

Serpent S411 composite gear differential

Serpent S411 composite gear differential

Coming soon from Serpent is the composite gear differential for the S411 line of cars. Making use of a lightweight plastic cage the diff features composite material internal gears and a X-shaped cross pin made from the same material. The outdrives are hardcoated aluminium items that replace the original steel parts for even lighter weight. The reduced rotation mass makes for better acceleration and increased overall performance. The original sintered metal gears are still useable with the V2 composite cage allowing for various gear combinations to achieve a different feel.

Serpent S977 Viper details

Serpent S977 Viper details

Serpent have released more details on their new 1/8th nitro on-road chassis, the S977 Viper. The goal behind the newly designed vehicle is to have an easier to build, easier to maintain and easier to drive car. Many parts of the S977 saw refinements compared to the 966-TE and therefore the front end is now even more adjustable in terms of king pin angle, trailing or leading kingpin and even offset is adjustable with our compromising the overall strength. At the same time the rear was simplified with only one upright position and three shock mounting holes to make for easier setup. Also new is the rear brake system that found a new home at the rear differential to reduce the negative effects of the involved rotating masses. Incorporated into the design is also a very easy to adjust chassis flex option via a single screw as well as other refinements. The kit will hit the stores around March.
