Dirk Wischnewski on pole at German Nats
Dirk Wischnewski is the man to beat at the German Championship 1/10 200mm nitro, when the final will be held on Sunday at the 220 meter track at Türkheim in the south of Germany. The European Champion and reigning champion in Germany did 23 laps in 5.01,009 minutes in his best heat and with a 12,9 second lap he was the only driver of the field of the 77 competitors to break through the 13 seconds barrier. With his Orcan LR3 powered Xray NT1 he achieved a nearly two seconds advantage over Xray/Orcan fellow Eric Dankel, who did 23 laps in 5.02,995 minutes. More than three seconds down, Serpent ace Michael Salven (23/5.06,134) and Kyosho racer Patrick Gassauer (23/5.06,679) took third and fourth in the qualification.
Except the first two drivers it has been a really close battle for the positions with small fractions of a second deciding. The pole positions in the semifinals went to Thomas Guensel (Xray/Orcan – 23/5.07,163) and Joerg Baldes (Xray/Orcan – 23/5.07,467). The position of Joerg Baldes is remarkable as he missed more than a half of the practise time on Wednesday to Friday. The top ten were completed by Rico Kroeber (Kyosho/Orcan), Ralf Krause (Xray/Orcan), René Puepke (Mugen/OS) and Patrick Schaefer with his Novarossi powered new Shepherd Velox V10.
Among the top ten are five Xray as well as two Kyosho and each one Serpent, Mugen and Shepherd. On the engine side it is six for Orcan/SMI and each one for Mega, Team Orion, OS and Novarossi. Five of the top ten drivers use GP tyres, hand made by Juergen Plan, each one used RPM (ATS), Xceed (Enetti), Matrix, UFRA and Enetti. Interesting is a look at the bodies: The brandnew Audi A5 (SMI) is used by five of the top ten drivers, three us the PF Stratus and two the Blitz Altis 2.3
A little unusual some racers are driving her cars with a one way front axle, among the top ten Eric Dankel and Joerg Baldes didn´t use the regular front differential.
