1/10th Euro ‘B’ pole position for Mathieu Wullyamoz

1/10th Euro 'B' pole position for Mathieu Wullyamoz

Qualifying is over the 2010 European 1/10th scale 200mm ‘B’ Championships in Lostallo, Switzerland and it is French driver Mathieu Wullyamoz that will start tomorrow’s 45 minute main final on pole position. Despite a mostly dry track all day the conditions changed a lot throughout the final 3 qualifying rounds with a lot of drivers improving their times in the last 2 runs of the day.

Capricorn/Boss driver Wullyamoz set his fastest time in the 3rd round and while he thought the 4th qualifying heat was faster, he took it too conservatively and had to rely on the others failing to improve on his 3rd round time to take the top spot. Having done nothing on his car’s setup throughout qualifying, he simply played around with different diameter and hardness tires he will now change his focus to preparing for tomorrow’s main event.

Guido Barbera

Taking 2nd position on the grid after pulling out all the stops in Q4 is Italian Xray/Max driver Guido Barbera. He had a reasonable run in the opening qualifier yesterday but he sat out his first heat today as the track was still damp and in his 3rd round, a clipped curb going on to the straight saw him hit the famous Lostallo bridge. For his final run he redid his setup, strapped in a new motor and managed to get the times he wanted and move up to the 2nd spot. He says he is confident for tomorrows final having come 3rd at the last Italian National which is an hour long final, so the 45 minutes shouldn’t present much of a problem.

Maxim Claes

Lining up on 3rd position was the overnight pole man Manuel Singer who is happy with 3rd spot for tomorrows final. Running the same setup all day, he failed to finish any of today’s qualifiers and so he had to rely on his round 1 time which was good enough to keep in a direct qualifier position.

Taking the final direct qualifying position was young Belgian driver Maxim Claes, who feels he is very lucky to be direct into the final having failed to improve his time all day. He tried a different setup on his Xray and even different tires but was still unable to improve.

Bertram Kessler

German driver Patrick Gassaur will start his semi final from pole position, having qualified 5th. Taking the pole spot in the other semi was French driver Thomas Eytard, who found it tricky to improve his morning time in the 4th run as the car was too direct and in the 3rd round he had made a small mistake when on a quick run. The overnight 4th placed qualifier Eduardo Dulac ended qualifying in 7th spot having tried a new body in the 2nd qualifier and having a big crash in the 3rd round due to a RX pack failure. His 4th round was quick but the side belt came loose and that ended his chance to improve his round 1 time.
