Delaunay wins Rd5 as Christiany takes French title

The 5th and final round of the French 1/8th Classique championship took place on the brand new Ingrande track last weekend. There was very good weather but the track conditions were not very good and so it was quite difficult to find the right set-up. Local driver Romain Delaunay found the perfect setup and put his Motonica on pole position ahead of Serge Christiany in 2nd and Julen Mathieu in 3rd. The beginning of the 45 minute final was difficult for Romain Delaunay and ended up at the back of the field but he fought back and took over the lead at the half way point in the race. Both Serge and Romain changed rear tires during this final and that is the order it would finish as Delaunay took the win 2 laps in front of Christiany in 2nd while Jean-Fran├žois Rouanet was 3rd. This result gave Serge Christiany the French National title.

Thanks to Jeff Rouanet for the report.
