Mibosport Cup 2013/14 Rd6 – Report
The 6th and final round of the Yokomo-backed Mibosport Cup Winter series was held in Hrotovice. A total of 135 drivers signed up for the event, with 78 drivers attending in the on-road and 57 in the off-road classes. Yokomo’s Ronald Völker came as a special guest to compete in the off-road and touring car modified classes. In the latter 16 drivers battled for the win with Ronald dominating the qualifying and eventually taking the TQ with a comfortable gap. The finals then where no exception as the Yokomo/LRP factory driver finished 1st in all three A-main legs. However there was quite a tough battle among Zdenko Kunák, David Nemček and Jirka Višín behind Ronald. In all three A-mains, Zdenko Kunák finished second and David Nemček came in third making this also the final standing.
In the Stock LRP class the pole position for the A-finals went to René Kölbel ahead of Marcus Galler. Jaroslav Kopecký achieved a very good 4th place after the qualifiers but he was not able to attend the finals. The first A-final went to René Kölbel ahead of Michal Vítámvás and Vincenz Schrank. The second A-final was won by Michael Kammer with René Kölbel and Marcus Galler behind. René Kölbel then went on to win the third A-final ahead of Michal Vítámvás and Michael Kammer to take the overall win. Michael Kammer finished 2nd overall with Michal Vítámvás completing the podium.
A total of 16 drivers attended the Formula class. René Kölbel won the qualifying ahead of Herbert Weber and Andreas Teubl. The first A-final went to Herbert Weber with René Kölbel and Markus Wurmhöringer behind. In the second A-final René Kölbel came in 1st in front of Herbert Weber and Andreas Teubl. In the third and decisive A-final, Weber and Kölbel were racing on the top but in the 4th minute both cars stopped off the track meaning DNFs for both drivers. The win in the final leg took Martin Szunyogh ahead of Andreas Teubl and Markus Wurmhöringer. René Kölbel though took the overall victory with Herbert Weber and Andreas Teubl completing the podium.
Only 8 drivers attended the Yokomo GT class, with three drivers starting out of competition due to their cars not meeting the Mibosport Cup rules. The TQ went to Igor Vlahovič and he was also the fastest driver in all three finals handing him the win in front of Jirka Toman and Oldřich Groch.
Qualifying of the 2WD buggy class saw Ronald Völker taking TQ in front of Aleš Bayer. The first A-final had Ronald and Aleš fighting for the win with Wojciech Rzepecki sitting in 3rd place. In the 2nd leg Aleš Bayer made a few mistakes allowing Ronald to take a clean win in front of Roman Pudich and Aleš Bayer. In the third A-main Aleš Bayer had to retire right after the start allowing Ronald Völker to take another easy win with Wojciech Rzepecki and Roman Pudich behind. So the overall win went to Ronald Völker with Wojciech Rzepecki and Roman Pudich completing the podium.
A total of 30 drivers attended in the 4WD buggy class. The TQ again went to Ronald Völker who suffered from technical problems prior to A1 so he was not able to attend the first leg. The win went to Zdenko Kunák ahead of Martin Zvára and Adam Janovič. The second A-final then went to Ronald Völker with a one-lap gap ahead of Zdenko Kunák and Ludvík Kurečka. In the third and decisive final Ronald Völker again took an easy win, this time in front of Ludvík Kurečka and Adam Janovič. With wins in A2 and A3 the overall victory went to Ronald Völker while Zdenko Kunák and Ludvík Kurečka completed the podium.
