2014 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals – Report

The 2014 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals took place at Space Coast RC Raceway this past weekend. In the premier class of 2WD Modified Buggy, Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) started off with a round 1 TQ leaving Billy Easton and Dakotah Phend behind. 4WD Modified Buggy qualifying kicked off with the round TQ of TLR’s Dakotah Phend. Ty Tessmann came in 2nd and Ryan Maifield completed the top 3 in Q1. In 1/10th Modified Truck Dakotah Phend put his Team Orion powered TLR truck on top of the time sheets in qualifying round 1. Ryan Cavalieri and Jared Tebo started with a 2nd and 3rd place into the qualifying. 2WD Short Course had Ryan Maifield (TLR) snatch the round 1 TQ  some 1.5s from Ryan Cavalieri and Jared Tebo.

Dakotah Phend took the TQ in the second round of the 2WD Modified Buggy qualifiers to leave the duo of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield behind. Round 2 of 4WD Modified Buggy and it was again Dakotah Phend who put his 22-4 buggy in front of the field. TLR team mate Ryan Maifield finished second some 9 seconds behind while Drew Moller completed the top 3 in round 2. Round 2 of Modified Truck had Ryan Cavalieri taking the TQ some 5 seconds in front of Jared Tebo while round 1 winner Dakotah Phend had to settle for 3rd in the round. The second qualifier of the 2WD SC class had Ryan Cavalieri striking back. He left Jared Tebo and Ty Tessmann behind to take the round TQ.

Round 3 of 4WD Modified Buggy qualifying had TLR’s JR Mitch put in a great TQ run, allowing him to finish in front of Ryan Cavalieri and Ty Tessmann. Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri again TQ in Modified Truck while Jared Tebo grabbed the round TQ in 2WD Modified Short Course.

The final qualifying round 4 brought the decisions for the overall TQs and in 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy it was Dakotah Phend who put his TLR buggies on pole position for the finals. In Modified Truck Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) TQ’ed the round to take the overall TQ in the class and he also TQ’ed round 4 of 2WD Modified Short Course to grab the pole position for the SC A-mains.

Come the finals on Sunday and it was Dakotah Phend who made a last lap pass to win A-main 1 in 2WD Modified Buggy. Ryan Cavalieri finished 2nd and Ryan Maifield came in 3rd. A-main 2 saw again Dakotah Phend taking the win from Ryan Cavalieri to wrap up the 2014 ROAR National Championship. Steven Hartson came in 3rd in A2. The overall result after the finals saw Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) taking the runner-up spot behind Champion Dakotah Phend (TLR) while Ryan Maifield (TLR) completed the podium in 3rd.

The 4WD Modified Buggy finals started off with a win of Ty Tessman (Hot Bodies). Dakotah Phend came in 2nd and JR Mitch finished 3rd in the leg. Dakotah then forced the National Championship title decision to the 3rd and final A-main by winning A2 in front of Ryan Maifield and Ty Tessmann who had to settle for 3rd. A-main 3 then again was a clear decision for Ty to take the ROAR National Championship back to back. Dakotah Phend (TLR) finished 2nd overall, Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) completed the podium in 3rd.

2014 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals – Report

In the Modified Truck class Dakotah Phend wrestled down Ryan Cavalieri for the win while Jared Tebo completed the top 3 result in the opening A-main. In A-main 2 it was again Dakotah Phend (TLR) who clearly won the leg in front of Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) and Jared Tebo (Kyosho) to take his 2nd ROAR National Championship title of the weekend. A-main number 3 brought no changes to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, handing Ryan Cavalieri the runner-up spot from Jared Tebo in 3rd.

2014 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Nationals – Report

In 2WD Modified Short Course Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) made a clean sweep in A1 and A2 to take the overall ROAR National Championship in front of Ryan Maifield (TLR) and Kyosho’s Jared Tebo.
